A senior ally of radical Iraqi cleric Moqtada Al Sadr warned on Friday that thousands of the planned 21,500 extra US troops en route for the war-torn nation would go home in coffins.
Launching a new strategy to rescue Iraq from civil war, Washington told the government of Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki, who owes his job to Sadr, it was on borrowed time and declared new no holds barred military operations.
A cornerstone of the new approach is increased pressure on Iraqs neighbours Iran and Syria -- which are accused by Washington of fomenting unrest -- and tougher action to deal with militias such as Sadrs feared Mahdi Army.
The American people have to prevent their sons from coming to Iraq or they may return in coffins, threatened Sheikh Abdel Razzaq al-Nadawi, a senior official in Sadrs movement, slamming the planned US troop increase.
His threat compounded tensions over the detention of five Iranians in a US swoop on an official building earmarked as a consulate in Arbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, which Tehran branded a breach of international law.
Sheikh Jaber Al Khafaji, another close Sadr aide, also slammed the new US strategy during his Friday sermon in the Shiite holy city of Kufa.
The Sadr movement rejects the new mundane policies. Their new strategy targets the faithful and believers who rejected the occupation, injustice and bondage, he told worshippers.

What does it say? Please expound a bit?
Does it say that President Bush and the United States with the planet's most powerful military weaponry decided to conduct a war using proportionate responses because of centuries old tribal differences among the Iraqis?
Are you forgetting that the main goal was to topple Saddam's Baathist regime and bring democracy to the Iraqi people?
If we leave now, you know a bloodbath will follow.
Libs and the MSM will blame President Bush. Republicans will say I told you so...while covering their heads and faces with shame.
The question has to be asked, why wasn't this done before the 2006 elections?
Yup.
Would someone please just feed this islamohutt a lead feast?... Sheesh, and to think this is what the democrats want to rule the ME.
How 'bout we sent the muzzies back in pork rind bags?
"They said body bags earlier, what is it muzzies, coffins or body bags. How bout if we send you muzzies back in sandwich bags".
...how about pork intestine bags? Like a sausage.
Find him. Kill him. And his colleagues.
Because we were afraid of losing both houses of congress to the Democrats...?
threatened Sheikh Abdel Razzaq al-Nadawi - sounds like Target #1 to me! Unleash the hounds of hell!
Breach of international law? They did what to our Embassy?
What a maroon
When oh, WHEN will we stop screwing around and push a button on this mutt?
You got that right. - tom
COALITION PROVISIONAL AUTHORITY BRIEFING WITH DAN SENOR, SENIOR ADVISER, COALITION PROVISIONAL AUTHORITY LOCATION: BAGHDAD, IRAQ
DATE: SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 2004
Q Tom Wasser (ph), Knight-Ridder.
MR. SENOR: Welcome back, Tom.
Q Appreciate it. Would you say that the coalition's stance towards Sadr is still kill or capture?
And the second is if he does not honor the warrant and stays out there, it seems that he in the eyes of many Iraqis -- that he's become a more powerful man because of this in a lot of ways. And I wonder whether he does -- if he doesn't turn himself in, whether he's had a net gain from this experience.
MR. SENOR: On your first question, our position towards Muqtada al-Sadr has not changed on any account. All we are seeing now is progress being made in an effort among Iraqis to reach peaceful resolution in that part of the country. We think it's a positive sign. We hope it continues.
But our overall position and our requirement that he has an obligation to meet the requirements in the arrest warrant has not changed, and that he disband and disarm his militia.
The "Sadr movement" like these thugs are a political party or something akin to one. If that is the case, then Big Al Capone was the mayor of Chicago....
Mookie is the head of a gang, he leads a bunch of thugs and gangbangers. To describe him as anything less is both inaccurate and disinformation. The MSM agiprop machine is running wide open.
We need to win thew Info war and quickly.
Is it not really the time to take them all out? This guy has made it pretty clear what these muslims think about being freed from Sadam--they have to be taken out, now.
Heh, never a truer statement of Irony.
This is like leaving Goebbels in charge of PR after the fall of Berlin.
Sadr's chubby presence on the scene over the last few years has been one of the most striking indictments of Dubya's 'strategy,' up until now anyway.
