Internet. Oneandonly.com on April 19, 2001. Flew to Manila June 21, 2001 to meet her in person (Not mail order bride by any means). Engaged on her 21st b-day 8-3-01 in Manila. Started immigration process 9-12-01. She LEGALLY entered the US Feb 5th 2002 @ LAX. Married 3-2-02. Gave birth to our son 4-21-02(You do the math). Our 5th wedding anniversary is next March. After 2 positive home pregnancy tests she took a blood test today and I'm pretty sure we are expecting or 2nd child.

She is a permanent resident of the USA and will be taking her US citizenship test this year. So hopefully we'll have another vote to count on!

We met here - on Free Republic.

Just after 9/11 - I was still in shock. Too many funerals in too short a period of time.

I also lost 9 close Navy buddies in the Pentagon IP where all who were at work that day perished. ALL of them.

We're not married yet - but good friends and close buddies and I know that one day, we are going to be together. Forever.

My devotion to him is pure and I'll love him til the day I die. He's like no other I've ever met. There is quite simply no other man who can ever fill my heart and my life the way he does.

He's headed overseas right now. I pray for him every day but after he leaves, it'll prolly be twice a day.

My depressed girlfriend came over around 10 pm one Saturday night in January 9 years ago and begged me to go out for a drink, just one she said. So we went to this bar named Moby Dick's...I hated the place, never had a good time there. I had noticed this biker guy sitting alone around the corner from where I sat. He looked mean and nasty...... I really didn't want to go out and I wanted to go home. While my girlfriend was having a good old time I wasn't. When I went to look at the clock I had to walk past that biker. He pulled on my hair , (I have very long hair) and asked me if I wanted a drink. Before I could say no thanks the bartender had my drink and there I was talking to this guy. .....I found out looks can be very deceiving. I had a great time that night. He asked me for my number but waited to call me for 2 weeks. He says he didn't want me to think he was that interested. I found out later he had his father hold my number so he wouldn't lose it. Told his dad I found the one I want to settle down with. He had never been married and his dad thought he was crazy. Now his dad loves me. That was 9 yrs ago this January. We now have a 7 yr old daughter, gave up the drinking and life is really good. He still looks mean and nasty, and can be if he needs to be. But he is a good father to my other children and our daughter is his world. What others couldn't or wouldn't see under the mean nasty looks, I saw. And all the women at the bus stop in our neighborhood love him. He takes our daughter in the mornings on his way to work and they bring him homemade cookies and muffins and coffee.

My husband knew my sister first, sitting with her in the lunchroom at school. He liked to playfully aggravate her and bum lunch money off of her. She and her boyfriend thought he and I should meet. He called me and we talked on the phone a few times. We then met in the 300 wing, as it was known, in high school. I was a freshman, 14, and he was a junior, 16. That was 36 years ago. This October will be out 30th anniversary!

On the evening of Oct 20th, 1987 a nasty little low pressure center was skirting the southeast cost of New England. As I drove home from a friends home I encountered deteriorating road conditions, the light rain that had begun falling had now started glazing the road.

As I headed west and further into the hills conditions were making it nearly impossible to continue my drive home. I pulled off to the shoulder after several fruitless attempts on a steep grade. As I started my journey for the long walk home I encountered the dim glow of light coming from the woods nearby, I ventured off the road and found a car embedded into an old oak. I opened the drivers side door (Not without much effort) and a young woman lay lifeless on the seat. I pulled her from the wreck and found no pulse or heartbeat. I proceeded to perform CPR and within a few minutes she began breathing (Although labored) on her own. Now I was faced with a real dilemma, should I stay and hope someone finds us or leave her behind and go for help? I chose the later first covering her nearly motionless body with my overcoat.

The first home I encountered had an outside light on but the Dodge Caravan I would normally see was missing from the driveway. As I stumbled up the walk I began to question my decision, would their be anyone home? And at this time of night would they even answer the door. I banged franticly on the door until a young girl opened it. I told her of the accident and instructed her to find me a heavy blanket and call 911. I hurried back to the scene and found her still breathing and motionless. I covered her and waited for help to arrive. 15 minutes passed by before I heard to sound of sirens in the distance, she was packed off and whisked away the to local hospital. After being questioned by the police (In a nice warm cruiser) he assured me he would call and let me know her status. The next day I found she was in a coma, she had broken ribs, a collapsed lung, ruptured spleen, internal bleeding and a concussion. The doctors upgraded her condition from critical to serious but stable after a few days following surgery.

I found an article in the local paper about the accident, she was 20 years old, lived in the next town and as it turned out the younger sister of a kid I played Little League ball with years before. she continued to improve eventually regaining consciousness, I went to visit her with her brother, we talked and I reminded her that when we were playing ball she' be running around in her pigtails getting into all kind of mischief. Even now still bruised and swollen from the crash you could tell what a beautiful woman she had become.

Her family (At my request) never divulged who was the one who discovered her on that cold Autumn night, as far as she knew it was just a good Samaritan who wanted to be left nameless.

Time went on and we started to date, eventually falling in love and becoming engaged. After she accepted my proposal only then did I tell her I was the one who saved her life that eventful night, that was nearly 20 years ago.

We now have two beautiful children.

Great story eh?

Too bad I made it all up.

Except the part about the kids. ;-D

Love these stories.

I feel like mine is a cinderalla story. I was 26, cute, and engaged to a young engineer from PA. He was always sort of confused and brooding. I never let it bother me because I thought he was "the one".

One day he broke my heart and said he was leaving to another state and "it was over". I cried so much that my dreams of love and plans for a wedding were over, asking God how these things could happen, and for help.

Shortly after, a friend from college called me out of the blue one day, and we laughed and joked for hours. He was always super friendly with me, but I didn't pay any attention to him, since I was engaged. He asked me out on a date and we were married months later. Everyone thought I was crazy because he didn't have a job. I supported the family while he was in law school.

Twelve years later, we have four gorgeous kids and God has been VERY good to us. I'm the one without the job now, and can afford more than any of those who criticized us ever dreamed of. More importantly, I adore him. He is the love of my life, besides God, and we are both positive people with strong family values. God always knew what he was doing, even if I didn't. Thanks again God!

I was a 2LT. My boss, an LTC, made me attend the unit's Christmas Ball. My wife was a 2lt, her boss made her attend. My roommate was behind my future wife and her friend as they were selecting which table they wanted to sit at, he asked for two seats at the same table.

We meet, had a brief intense courtship. The Army was going to move her and we didn't see the sense of trying to have a long distance relationship. We married 6 months after we meet, so the Army would keep us together. That was 18.5 years ago.

Her boss at a company party told me I should check out one of his new hires - so I did. We dated for over 5 years before we married - 21 years and counting.
