HONOLULU (AP) _ The U-S military plans to send its most advanced fighter jet abroad for the first time.
The Air Force will deploy 12 of the F-22 planes to the southern Japanese island of Okinawa next month.
The planes will train with Japan's air force, U-S F-15's, and the U-S Navy while at Okinawa's Kadena Air Base.

Sorry for the typo - I had already attempted to post this twice and FR rejected the source links
It is good to see the Raptors coming on line. I hope we get a whole lot of them.
Since the Raptor is brand new and I believe there's only one operational squadron the fact that this is a first time deployment is entirely non newsworthy.
UFAF?
This is a serious move, folks.
Oh. Actually that's good; since there are so many military abbreviations I thought this might be yet another.
I wonder if this is part of Jack Murtha's redeployment plan to Okinawa for a fast response to Iraq in case of trouble. /sarc
Seriously, it's good to see the Raptors deployed.
dito
I kindly disagree - if you couple the timing of this deployment with the 15 F-117A's that were just announced as heading to South Korea, also a second carrier headed to the Strait of Hormuz, etc it could well signal something is in the works within weeks...JMHO
Really? Putting the air-superiority aircraft in that region signals something more to come.
"Monsta!"
Over 100 have already been built with 331 ordered.Hope they get over 1000 eventually.
Yes, indeedy!
Goodness...our timestamps are identical. 4:56:46 PM EST on posts #11 and #12. Yikes! Great minds?
Hmm. Straits of Hormuz is kinda far away from Korea don't you think?
This has to be good, when you consider how much bad news just one of them can deliver to the bad guy's. It has to be good.
That's right. It is called "PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH".
Thailand??
Oh, wait...
