The body of soul legend James Brown has yet to be buried, even though he died more than two weeks ago. The burial delay has been caused by family disagreements over his estate and final resting place, according to the late singer's lawyer Buddy Dallas. He insists the trustees for his will, along with Brown's children, will determine the burial site.
In the meantime, Brown's corpse lies in a sealed casket in his mansion on Beech Island, South Carolina at a controlled temperature and under watch from security guards. His home has been sealed off since hours after his death to protect his personal possessions. Among those locked out is his widow Tomi Rae Hynie after lawyers for Brown and close family cast doubt on the validity of their marriage.
Last week Hynie waded into the burial debate on "Entertainment Tonight," accusing Brown's relatives of digging up her husband's body after burying him without including her. She raged, "They bury him and don't tell me; I read it in the paper the next day and when they find out in the news that I'm so upset about it, they get the body... and they exhumed it? Then they pulled it back out and put in the funeral home because they found out that I was angry that I wasn't invited to them putting them in the ground until they'd built the mausoleum."
Hynie claims Brown wanted to be laid to rest in a mausoleum on the grounds of his home in South Carolina.
Knowing what a hard working guy he was, they are probably still waiting for his body to cool down.
Git up off a dat thing!
An' plant him
Den ya feel better!
YUCK!
If only my image-editing skills were up to a "Weekend at Brown's" poster...
First three posts will be hard to top.
I don't know why none of this surprises me -- Mr. Brown was always a controversial figure in life...seems rather fitting that he would still be so in death. Poor guy can't rest in peace.
Not to take anything away from the rest.

The Godfather of Soul is getting funkier by the day!
Didn't ole Ted Williams have the same problem? Not that he knew anything about it.
Give it up or turn it a loose.
James Brown, since Christmas morning: ""
