Al-Qaeda inspired militant group calls on Syrians to kill Assad
Published: 05.28.07, 23:37 / Israel News
A militant Islamic group inspired by Al-Qaeda called on the Syrian people Monday to assassinate President Bashar Assad a day after the government held a referendum on granting him a second term.
Abu Jandal al-Dimashqi, the self-declared leader of Tawhid and Jihad in Syria, also urged all Arabs to topple their leaders, accusing them of being renegades, in an audiotape posted on a Web site. ‘’Our people in Syria, how do you accept to be ruled by the vulgar Nassiries (Alawites) ... rise up as one man to chop their legs and heads,’’ al-Dimashqi said. Assad is a member of the country’s minority Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam.

“Al Qaeda in Lebanon”

Yep, it’s been a can of stinking worms for a while.
Lebanon is much smaller than Iraq, so al-Qaeda will have less places to hide.
Also, where are these al-Qaeda operatives coming from? I don't think they have the "assets" to fight on two fronts at once.
Hi Cowboy Bob.
I’m heading for bed, but you might check some of those update links to get a glimmer of who’s in Lebanon and who’s not.
BROADLY GENERALISING... Basically the global jihad is pretty transient these days. The internet is their primary communication/education/recruiting/terrorist financing tool — the glue you might say, that bonds them all together.
Anyway, detailed info at the update links.

Sunday, June 03, 2007
June 2: Emergency personnel load a victim of a hit-and-run accident that injured 35 in Washington, D.C., into an ambulance.
WASHINGTON A car plowed through several blocks at a crowded street festival, injuring about 35 people, seven severely, authorities said. The driver was arrested near the scene.
Witnesses said strollers were flung into the air and one person was trapped beneath the car’s wheels during the chaos Saturday night in the city’s Anacostia neighborhood.
The injured included two children under age 3 and two police officers who drove their motor scooters into the driver’s path in an attempt to stop her, authorities said.
