I've heard people say eating hot foods will keep you from getting intestinal cancer. Looks like they were headed in the right direction.

I grow tons of red hot cayennes and orange habaneros in my garden. I have a real addiction to the stuff, so all the better if this is true.

They found capsaicin, an ingredient of jalapeno peppers, triggers cancer cell death by attacking mitochondria"Remain calm, we are just here to cure any cancers you might have."

That's it. I'm eating more Thai and Korean food from now on. Love the stuff, now I have an excuse.

I eat allot of spicy food and grow jalapenos and chilies in my garden. I have noticed that I rarely get colds and such. Me and my friends with the same eating habits believe this is because of all the spicy foods but we have no proof. It would make sense that it would create an environment in your stomach unfriendly to viruses

I've got to slow down. I thought the title read "How spicy foods can kill careers." !

There's a fairly successful treatment at a clinic in Germany that includes subjecting the part of the body that has cancer to very high temperatures for a period of time each day.

Thank you so much for this article. I am currently being treated for lung cancer. I plan to step up my consumption of anything with capsaicin in it. I'm surprised the vitamin companies haven't jumped on this. Maybe they will. Anyway, thanks again.

"They found capsaicin, an ingredient of jalapeno peppers"
It's not an ingredient, it's a natural component. Fruits and vegetables don't have "ingredients", things made by people do. Also, capsaicin is found in every type of pepper expect the sweet bell peppers, which are a genetic aberration from the original stock, and lack the gene for producing capsaicin.

So many of my dates seem to end in a cloud of pepper spray...who'd have ever guessed it was doing me so much good! :-)
