The GOP didn't behave terribly well in many aspects, but it ain't nothing compared to what we're going to live through. Probably for decades.
Well, if it was so critical for the GOP to hold on to power, you could have fooled my by the way the GOP acted in recent years. THAT is the core problem - you CANNOT sell the notion that it is vital for the GOP to hold on to power when the GOP used its power for so many utterly idiotic pursuits such as rampant earmarks - including a cluster of such in Iraq appropriations bills.
Peach, just give up on trying to point out the obvious to certain voters (or should I say protest/non voters). They will never take responsibility for what is going to happen over the next 5-10 years.
They are assuming (rather naively) that in 2008 they will get everything they want. They are short term thinkers only and do not realize just how long it is going to take to revamp the Republican party.
After all, how are you going to try to use logic with people who think like this:
"Well, well, if I do not get everything that I want from the Republicans, I will put a party in power that will give me nothing of what I want".
That makes a lot of sense during this particular time in our country's history.
Yeah, it could turn out in history that 2006 was the year that the socialists finally beat back the conservative counter-revolution that had been having some successes since 1994.
