WASHINGTON (AP) --

In a concession to the Senate's new Democratic majority, four of President Bush's appeals court appointees have asked to have their nominations withdrawn, Republican officials said Tuesday.

These officials said that William Haynes, William Myers and Terrence Boyle had all decided to abandon their quest for confirmation. Another nominee, Mike Wallace, let it be known last month that he, too, had asked Bush to withdraw his nomination.

You can flame and rant and rave all you want, but the facts remain that in sending your "message", you consigned us all to the Socialist agenda.

Please show where I said to vote against the House and Senate GOP candidates. I didn't.

I am stating why the pubbies failed to convince swing voters to keep them in power.

The GOP failed to give a good reason to the average swing voter as to why they should stay in power. They stressed how important it was they maintained control - after showing they mostly saw power as a way to get the lion's share of earmarks and pork. That resonated with a lot of voters.

I second that. It's not 1994 anymore.

And I feel sorry for the country because some of you put yourselves and your agenda before the country.

I voted straight Repub.

It was not my fault that this administration had no real agenda at all.

"The GOP will now move to the middle to attract the moderates that are independent and/or Democrats to form a concensus out of MATURE people who aren't on the extremes of each end of the parties."

It's too late for that now, the new party for "mature" voters is the Dem party.

Rahm Emmanuel did what the so-called RYMB Rove should have done: identified voter concerns, found likeable, principled candidates, and promoted the hell out of them while running savage but true campaigns against feckless, too-long-in-office Pubbies.

I'll never leave the GOP, I was a two-term committee precinct person in the past and have asked to be appointed to fill a vacancy this term, but the GOP blew it for many people when they "left behind their true love" as St. Paul said about the church that was neither hot nor cold, and was therefore to be spewed out of Christendom's mouth.

And like Laodecia I'm afraid the GOP has seen its day and will be spewed out of the body politic by the voters as the liberals will vote Dem, rather than Dem Lites like McCain and Giuliani, and the moderates will find open arms within the Dem party.

It's really sad, but it wasn't the conservatives' fault, it was entirely the fault of the GOP pols that blew such a magnificent opportunity.

I suspect the only time we'll ever go conservative or GOP again is if there is another horrible terrorist attack on us, far worse than 9/11.

Ed

Yeah, it could turn out in history that 2006 was the year that the socialists finally beat back the conservative counter-revolution that had been having some successes since 1994.

Well, it's important that the President nominate some new people now, then. I'm not glad they were stonewalled, but I would rather Bush appointees in these seats than Democratic ones.

noticed that not a single item had anything to do with reducing spending or cutting the size of government. When did those stop being core conservative values?

I think that's Southack's cheerleader spam post. You'll have to ask him.

He's in your district/state? Sounds like it's your fault for not opposing RINOs in primaries.

We voted McCrery. He won. And the losing dim *itch tried to take him to court to overturn his win.

Judge dismisses McCrery Challenge

I'll never vote for a liberal whether it's hitlery or mcpain. Never.

Actually, I have a different view: I think it's because some in the GOP cannot face or accept the fact that the world -- and this country specifically -- has changed.

Most of the Republicans I see in day to day life -- meaning not on FR -- think the party has moved way too far to the right and panders far too much to the fringe in the party.

I do my part in the primaries where I vote my principles.

But after the primary, I pull the R lever, yes, I do.

Maybe if you people would get off the dime and do the same, we would have stood a better chance.

I remember a CNN exit poll (take it for what it's worth) where you didn't have to choose one. War in Iraq was a major concern for voters at around 45%. But at number 1, a few points ahead of even the war, was corruption.

Foley, Taft, Cunningham, etc. We need to cleanse the party of these characters, even if it means losing a few political offices. And we didn't, which is why Ohio will be lost to us for a long time. And we lost a sure thing in Florida... etc.

And now a message from Helen:

"As for politics, Republicans seeking the presidency in 2008 would do well to tear a page out of Ford's playbook:
Move to the middle and stay away from the far right." Helen Thomas

Your loathing of Conservatives is rather revealing.
