"
Which do you sniggering idiots want?"
What is with the rude attitude of some of you people? It isn't as though you specifically were insulted.

But nothing was found. All they know is how we will react when nothing is found. Won't they also know our reactions prior to finding that out? Were we scared? Did we believe there was a threat? Did we run, hide, did we do as we were told like good little sheeple?

I see what you are saying, but I was referring to the number not the "kind" of test. I apologize for not being more clear. See - If I give myself 6 pregnancy tests, that would be 6 different pregnancy tests (and woe to the company who is wrong 6 times! heh) even if they were all the same 'kind' of test.

If the detection threshold on those tests is set wrong, then those tests will give a positive reading at a very low threshold, thus causing false positive results.
It's kind of like the environmentalist whackos demanding more and more restriction on human activity because lower and lower levels of a given chemical compound can be detected as sensor technology improves.
To: Last Laugh
True. Those of us that could do nothing about it basically ignored it. We waited to see if the threat was real.
They learned that in order to really "get" us, they will have to actually DO something and not merely threaten.

OK, I haven't read the whole thread (and don't intend to) but there appear to be a lot of morons here.
The Iraqi truck driver and two hidden "middle east types" from Dearborn (I don't care if they're "legal") in the back of his truck yesterday and then this package that tests positive for C4 are almost 100% certainly tests of the ability of security at this port to detect intrusions.
You can easily disagree with this conclusion, but you have to provide some logic for that disagreement. Anyone who tries to make fun of this situation is a complete imbecile and Al Qaeda is counting on your vocal support.

re: gave false positives in one person that many times
If you ran the same test on the same sample I would expect to give the same results, right or wrong.

This is a test. This is only a test.
I wanted to see what the spellchecker would do with "sniggering"!
Maybe I have too much time on my hands?

I, for one, am getting tired of people belittling and diminishing valid efforts and to save our sorry asses. Our President has enough problems countering the brain dead on the left and the terrorists hitting him head on without people on the right making light of the efforts.
Was I insulted? You bet your ASS, bub!

Do we know for a fact that these were sprinklers associated with lawn care and irrigation. These ships have sprinkler systems throughout for fire protection. Could have been that kind of sprinkler?

They learned that in order to really "get" us, they will have to actually DO something and not merely threaten. And they are learning about our security measures to do just that, I fear.

IF yesterday and today were dry runs, and enough dry runs are run, it becomes the boy who cried wolf..once apathy sets in in the face of a threat or series of perceived threats, that's when they'll hit..

No, I was just answering the question with one of the possibilities. The fact that Disney owns islands that their cruise ships stop at means just about anything could be legitimate cargo on one of their ships.

What also makes sense is our government is not telling us the truth about these high profile "dry runs" - what was really found.
Didn't they disallow fly overs by the media? God love 'em, they have done a good job stopping terrorists attacks. I believe they have stopped things we'll never know about, but I also believe they don't want us knowing any of it.
An armed, enraged citizenry would be hard to control.

I thought maybe I had missed something along the way. I tried to read through all that's been said, but I sometimes miss things completely. I guess we're not even sure it's a sprinkler system thing at all. It's amazing how much gets said in the early phases of these situations that turns out to be wrong in the end! Thanks!
To: Last Laugh
>>And they are learning about our security measures to do just that, I fear.<<
Well, they learned that our security measures found traces of C4 - assuming it was not a false positive.
