They keep well a very long time. (Remember, it's not "tin", either.)

If you want scary, try plastic.

Try eating some peanut butter from a plastic container in a year.

You won't like it!

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Sure does.

They just blew up the package....sprinkler parts from South America. Some firms in SA use cheap grades of polymers that can result in false positives by sniffers. That appears to be the case here.

"The can will be extended out of shape if the tomato paste has gone bad. You should not be able to push on the top of a can and be able to depress it. If you can depress it, toss the can."

NOW you tell me.

The shelter-in-place was lifted quite a while ago for 99% of the area, but evidently there are a few homes or businesses right there by the Nalco plant that are still being told to S-I-P. I used to do some work there and do remember that there are homes behind it. It's just down the street from the Imperial (closed) plant.

It was ethylene diamine, which smells like ammonia. What's strange to me is that there have been several ammonia-smelling substances which have caused widespread concern recently in two different places, one being the ice rink in Sugar Land and the other being an ice rink, also - I think the one at Memorial City.

Wonder why these things happen in clusters like this. In Manhattan today it was mercaptan - will there be more natural gas odorizer "incidents" upcoming?

Exploding fire control sprinkler heads - now that would be a twist...

Thanks for the ping. I'm confused.

Didn't I just read that the C4 was tested 6 times and came back positive but now they're saying it isn't C-4?

Either the feds are trying to keep the panic level down and the jihadists are probing our responses or we've got the most incompetent people in the world testing this stuff.

AA Flight 587, yes. One month before Richard Reid's attempted shoe-bombing over the Atlantic.

And if Reid had been successful, that would have been another accident. Probably a center fuel tank explosion.

Tomorrow, I expect to hear:

The cruise liner "Jihad of the Seas" has suddenly disappeared.

Authorities have conclusively determined that no act of was terrorism involved, but rather it was just a batch of defective Chinese bolts.

Ah yes, but since you replied ("you're absolutely correct") to someone who specifically posited about 2 planes AT WTC itself, I assumed that's what you meant.

Defective Chinese bolts could cause a positive reaction to 6 C-4 tests? I'm not buying it are you?

The smell of ammonia has to scare many long-time Houstonians, do you remember the deadly ammonia truck accident at the 610/59 interchange about 30 years ago? We were leaving the Galleria right after it happened and could smell some of it, but thankfully were far enough away and got out of there soon enough.

So far it appears that everything has been just coincidences on a busy day, as has happened before.

Lantana was mentioned in one these responses. I remember that being associated with the anthrax. Same play, different day? Remember, Atta had been stopped a couple of times. He was always on the road. Looks like we have 3 more dudes to keep an eye on.

Color me alert/suspicious/conspiratorial...whatever, but the Miami thing looks like a trial run to me.

I thoroughly lost now- went out to the grocery store and now am confused between C4 testing positive, but not being C4?

Good thing pregnancy tests aren't like that, eh? ;)
