It's more the Conservatives who stayed home that I was referring to.
You people make liberals conservative.
For one thing,it would have kept the Democrats out of power.
That one thing alone of itself, is always good.
I usually don't respond to vanities but.....
" but the, Im staying home because Im so much more conservative than you, so much smarter than you.. 1 in 7 voters must be held to a higher standard. "
How about instead of holding the voters to a higher standard we hold the politicians to a higher standard. After all, they work for us, we don't work for them. I think you got it backwards.
What's the winning percentage of the campaigns you've advised for pay? (Actually taking office, not primary wins.)
Exactly. Same point I was trying to make but I did it in a round about way.
Your post number 13 hits the nail squarely on the head.
I'm sick of the RINOs on FR blaming conservatives for what was at its core a failure by Republican leadership...to govern effectively, and to run smart campaigns.
And you're right about the media. There is little pretense of objectivity or fairness left. They have become explicitly "the Democrat Media." If Republicans aren't prepared to deal with that reality, they are prime targets for political destruction.
Democrats won because the Stupid Party alienated blue-collar and independent voters with their hypocrisy on spending, moral values, and fighting a half-ass war.
There are a lot of voters who simply aren't die-hard conservatives like we are. Most of them don't know who their representative or Senator is, for crying out loud. So how the Hell is it conservatives' fault for "staying home" when a large swath of voters bought the media spin and voted for the Dims in droves.
You don't have to explain a damn thing to the GOP bootlickers.
Blaming the voters you couldn't inspire to go to the polls isn't too bright.
What is this 'single issue', pray tell?
Spot on! It's damned presumptuous to assume that Republicans were 'owed' votes from voters who stayed home. I voted GOP and donated to the GOP and worked the phones for my candidate but nobody owned my vote. We need to spend our efforts encouraging elected GOP officials to live up to our conservative principles and insist that they remain accountable to us. They're the ones who lost the election...not the voters. And calling those people names and villifying them is not the way to get them to the polls for the GOP the next time around!
Heh...
So calling them idiots is your plan to get them to vote next time? AND vote for Republicans? Brilliant.
McCain "straight taking independent and former POW".
Perot "billionaire geek who can run the USA like a Fortune 500 company. Beholden to none".
It may be that Rove did a bad job, or tried to connect with groups that we dislike. That's not my point.
My point was only that elections are won by the "soft story" that is sold to the 20% of swing voters. The Dems had the successful story, and like the most sympathetic American Idol constestant, they won.
If all Americans were thinking, rational, policy analyzing type of people then the Republicans could win elections by simply posting their platform, or talking about what their policies are.
This is not the case. So we need strategists and story tellers and PR gurus who are usually doing stuff like getting people to change tooth-paste brands.
So we (the rational, committed, conservatives) should quit blaming the notional "moles" in our midst (who mostly don't exist) and get back on track for helping craft the meta-story around Pelosi et-al that damns them in 2008.
"Can you explain how voting Republican in the last election would have made America a stronger and more prosperous nation"
I have another question. Is FreeRepublic a Republican blog site or a conservative blog site?
The partly sluts who'll drop to their knees for anybody with an R behind his or her name are just tools of the party. They give up for free, their vote, what most people make politicians work for. They make the people weaker and politicians stronger. They take away the power of a vote. A one-choice vote isn't a vote anymore.
The people will never speak of the shortcomings of their masters. Their masters could never lose an election unless someone else did something wrong. The masters make no bad decisions that cost them votes. Only us serfs can fail the masters.
The party sluts actually have the gall to believe we OWE the politicians out votes, provided they have an R after their name, that is. They are weak followers predisposed to blindly placing their lives in the hands of others.
It's not the end of the world.
The Dems need to push the legislation and then get it passed, which will destroy their cover as "moderates" and " willing to be bipartisan". If the POTUS has some stones and VETO's bad legislation, they then have to try and overide his VETO and they don't have the votes to do that.
This of course presupposes that the jellyfish in the GOP Senate and the Pres grow a spine.
I've supported the best conservative candidate 100% of the time.
And all of my candidates won in 2006.
Thanks for asking.
Good post. Accurate.
