A strange discovery this morning in downtown Austin. (TX)

Several blocks of Congress Ave are closed as police investigate the death of dozens and dozens of birds lying in the street.
KLBJ spoke to the APD's Toni Shovenitz, She says they are speculating it is some type of posioning.
Right now police are using leaf-blowers to clean the road. They hope re-open this area before rush hour traffic.

I don't think its terrorism.
For many years, Pittsburgh news anchor Bill Burns suggeted killing this city's pigeons. Never did, but maybe someone in Austin is following through.
Burns commentated once that Pittsburgh ought to kill its pigeons, freeze dry them and ship them to Ethiopia to relieve a famine over there.
I don't see the humor in this report that others seems to see.

satellite shot (Google maps) doesn't show any towers or other prevalent structures that would bring down the birds along the entire stretch (Ceaser Chavez to 11th St.)

There was a hail storm a year or so ago that killed thousands of Grackles and other birds in Austin. Not much news on that story at the time.

It's a satirical song, lime all of Tom Leherer's stuff was...
There were over a thousand wild ducks that died here in Idaho a couple of weeks ago...they thought it was an epidemic, but the last I heard about it, they were still testing.

Grackles, or starlings? How big of a bird, are we talking about, in this event?
We'd get flocks of 10s of thousands of starlings, when I lived in KY in the 70s. Our street was lined with poplars, and they'd roost and make all kinds of noise, and one heckuva mess. Really obnoxious.
