Cass County District courtroom erupted in emotion Friday as a guilty verdict was read, convicting a 28-year-old Bosnian man of engaging in a June 24, 2006, riot at the Red River Valley Fair while armed.
Mevludin Hidanovics family members gasped and burst into tears as the verdict was read and a few children were forced to leave after they could not control their emotions.
One child punched the bench he was sitting on and struggled with an adult as he was led out of the courtroom.
The jury convicted Hidanovic, 4251 33rd Ave. S., Fargo, of the Class C felony after deliberating for most of Friday.
Witnesses told authorities a large fight took place on the midway at the West Fargo fairgrounds about 8:45 p.m. Authorities found a baseball bat and a 4- to 5-inch knife at the scene, according to court documents.
Judge Wade Webb ordered a presentence investigation be completed before Hidanovic is sentenced and set bail for him at $50,000 cash.
He faces a maximum five-year sentence and/or a $5,000 fine.
Assistant States Attorney Mark Boening said Hidanovic committed a hate crime, saying, This is just unacceptable behavior.
Hidanovics attorney, Ross Brandborg, said he did not wish to comment.

WEST Fargo, N.D. (AP) Four men are facing charges in a riot at the Red River Valley Fair last month
Investigators compiled a 33-page report that lists 15 suspects, including ten juveniles as well as seven witnesses and five victims
Authorities say they arrived at the scene of the June 24th brawl as people were scattering, and found a baseball bat and a knife
The victims were treated for lacerations and bruises
Police say they had reports that Mexican-Americans in the area might try to take revenge on the Bosnian community for the riot, but that never happened
The four men charge range in age from 25 to 33
Twenty-seven-year-old Mevludin Hidanovic and 33-year-old Sinan Suljic are charged with engaging in a riot while armed
Twenty-five-year-old Fahrudin Hidanovic and 30-year-old Fikret Golubovic are charged with engaging in a riot
Appears a bit of a turf war between Bosnian Muslims and Mexican-Americans.
Diversity is our strength.
Bringing the Balkans to our own back yard, IMO!
Kumbyah
There are about 40,000 to 50,000 Bosnians in St. Louis and other areas
of Missouri.
The state of Missouri even issues drivers license manuals in Bosnian.
When it comes down to adherents of "The Religion of Peace" and
invaders from Mexico...I know which side I'd rather see win.
A microcosmic peek into the future of America?

I've written off the third world, Latin America, and Southeast Asia as destinations of travel. It's now starting to look like parts of the United States are going to Hell.
Thank you George. Thank you Ted. for screwing up a great place. May your trust funds be taken in the Hell that you made by mobs of those you let in to our home.
Me, too. I'd rather learn Spanish than be forced to learn how to bow towards Mecca!
Indeed!
Yeah, this was a real class act:
"....At least five people suffered injuries Saturday night, and one man needed metal staples to close a head wound, authorities said Wednesday. A bystander who said he was trying to help a child in a stroller that had been knocked over was struck in the mouth...."

I don't want to do either but I will NEVER EVER wear a burka!!! I would rather eat tacos.
Reminds me of the "better red than dead mantra" I heard in the 60's and 70's.,
Mexico can help us in this war without sending their scum to this country.
The Mexican Mafia slits throats, too.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is a region inhabited (originally) by Catholics, Orthodox, and Muslims. A `Bosnian' can be of those three groups. All speak Serbo-Croatian; the distinction is whether it is written in latin or cyrillic script.
One of the many sad ironies of that land (I'm Slovenian and glad not to be a part of Bosnia's bloody past and present) is that Bosnian Muslims were once so laid back that they drank slivovitz, were hospitable to strangers, and intermarried freely. During the 1990's horror, Arab Muslims refused them aid, saying they were `too European, and not Muslim enough'.
Interethnic carnage goes on, here or there. Truly sad.
Maybe the Mexicans could sneak into Bosnia and get jobs there. It works for them here.
