Around here (Philly metropolitan area), where the utilities are as corrupt as the Democrats in their pockets, a warm winter always means a boost in rates - - to make up for profits lost as a result of the warm winter.

Odd how the price of oil goes down, yet gas prices just went up 12 cents a gallon.

But there's no price gouging at the pumps. Just remember, it's all the free market, supply and demand and all...

That's always the way it goes. And if it's too cold, then rates have to go up because demand was too high. And if demand is just right, well rates just have to go up because.

Thanks for providing the link, Pyro7480.

Hmmm...it seems that both Joe and Hugo might have a vested interest in global cooling, since more of Hugo's oil would get sold if the earth doesn't warm up.

Bet my State (NY) is ticked. 8 cents on a dollar filled the coffers when prices were high. Don't worry, they'll just get it from our other pocket.

The only weather in the world that matters is in the NE of the US. The NW and W of the US is COLD and WET.

Watching the dance between the corrupt politicians and the corrupt utilities (PECO and PGW) is hilarious. The way it goes is like this: The utility (say, Philadelphia Gas Works) announces that they need to increase rates by a whopping 21%. Everybody goes ballistic. The politicians then wink and nod at the utility as they proceed to bluster about how they will never let such an increase happen, not in a million years. Way too much of an increase. The folks can't afford it, especially the poor folks. Etc.

Then, after a few weeks of "negotiations" the gas company announces that it can, reluctantly, barely eke by with an increase of a mere 14%. The politicians then congratulate themselves for cutting the rate hike by a third, the sheeple wipe their brows in relief, and the gas company bends the public over for a whopping 14% increase.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Inquirer acts like the whole charade was for real.

And all those jobs that the utilities keep open for the friends and relatives of the government mobsters remain safe and secure. Of course, it's not just the utilities - - it's also the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, etc. Everybody's got an angle.

It's _________________ (fill in the blank with any gas company's name here). With us it's National Grid, not so affectionately known as National Greed.

Demand for heating in the US is tipped to be 30% less than normal this week, according to forecasts by the National Weather Service.

Wait till about the middle of the month. Winter will come.

Winter just began a couple weeks ago. January is just getting started and February can be a bit cold.

Yes, the forcast high for Dallas tomorrow is only 68. I might be able to get by without turning on the air conditioning.

OK. The fat lady still has not sung on this winter.

Let's not rush to tally up the results before the winter season is even one third over.

If the burning of fossil fuels is the cause of global warming, and warmer winters cause less burning of fossil fuels, is God like way smart or what?

What baffles me is also the fact that the oil corporations got billions of dollars in handouts. This is despite that all the oil majors posted record profits this year.

Welfare is disgusting, be it at the personal or the corporate level.

Forget oil. What is happening to the metals? Gold, copper, silver, uranium stepped into a pit in the road.

I'll try again for the slow learners in the group.

Oil output from Iraq has recovered from Iraq war and is at an all time high. It has been a few years since the terrorist MO was to bomb the pipelines or the oil facilities.

Did you see any mention in this article on the effect of Iraq oil on the market? No? I didn't think so.

So instead of giving credit for the increase in oil supplies being caused by the increase in Iraq's oil output (and hence a Bush policy) they chose to promote their their agenda that all things are caused by 'global warming'.

You will also notice that there wasn't a mention of the mild hurricane season either - allowing the Gulf oil supplies to recover too.
