I noticed at the funeral he did seem less free in his movements hope the surgery will benefit him greatly.

*sighs* I'm sure the Pres will veto anything that looks like cutting and running in Iraq. Anything else...we'll have to wait and see, I guess. I hope the remaining Republican members of the gang of 14 take a lesson from the way the Dems act when they're in charge. At least that press conference yesterday reminds us that the Dems get to deal with the anti-war whackos now :P

That works too :) Really, I'm kind of surprised by how I'm taking all of this. Ya know, when President Bush won re-election, I knew quite a few liberals who acted like they were going to DIE. I'm certainly disappointed. But the world didn't end. And there's always 2008. By then, I'll have graduated and can work on campaigns if I want to :)

Pres. Bush will also veto any fed. spending for embryonic stem cell research...even though Mitch McConnell just said on Hannity and Colmes that it will pass...because enough GOP Senators will vote for it..

(Mitch said he would NOT vote for it).

But, Mitch McConnell also said that he is in favor of the "Comprehensive" Immigration Reform bill...that SO many conservatives decided it was better for the dems to win...rather than support the GOP over.

So....this GOP Senate is NOT going to be very popular with the 100%ers.

I suppose it is politics at the end of day one has to interact even if you do not want to.

Also as I have said a few times in the last few days when you get to the level of President and Vice President there are so very few people around that appreciate various aspects of your life that can never be the same again and sometimes there is camaraderie if not real friendship in talking to people who share this unique experience.

*grins* I can't wait! This would really be the perfect time to get involved in a campaign, if that's what I decide to do. I haven't decided yet.

Actually, I find the Right's incessant whining about THE VETO 'abit maddening.

Why would a rational person expect the President to veto legislation passed by a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS acting in consultation with the White House?

Additionally, why would any rational person expect the President to behave CONFRONTATIONALLY with Congress when he needs said Congress to FUND the WAR ON TERROR -- his first and really only priority for the last 5 years!

For the next two years, the President must still work with Congress (this time a HOSTILE Congress) so that Congress will continue to FUND the WAR . . . He will have to use his veto powers judiciously ever mindful of his TOP PRIORITY: WINNING THE WAR ON TERROR and PROTECTING THE HOMELAND!!
