BRUSSELS -- At a slaughterhouse here last week, Mohamed Mimoun wrestled a sheep between his legs and took a number. He gasped: It was a two-hour wait to sacrifice his animal for Eid al-Adha, an important Islamic religious festival.
"I should have done this at home, like everyone else," he moaned.
That would have saved Mr. Mimoun a long wait in drenching rain, but it would have been against the law. Killing an animal at home to eat it is legal in Belgium. But a 1988 law expressly forbids the ritual slaughter of animals at home.
Living cheek by jowl in Brussels with the many bureaucrats who run the European Union, Muslims in the city turned an estimated 25,000 sheep toward Mecca this year and cut their throats to celebrate the story of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son to God. Eid al-Adha commemorates God's reprieve which allowed Abraham to kill a ram instead of his son. While some, like Mr. Mimoun, head to official slaughterhouses, many Muslims, fearing long waits, kill their sheep illegally in their backyards and basements instead.
Whether at a slaughterhouse or at home, the practice raises the ire of animal-rights activists. For years, they have held anguished protests against the manner in which the sheep are slaughtered, arguing that the sheep should be stunned first to lessen their pain. "It's not normal to have thousands of sheep slaughtered like this in the middle of a major European city," says Ann De Greef, a Belgian animal-rights campaigner.
On his way to the slaughterhouse, Mr. Mimoun was fined by a policewoman for transporting a live sheep in the closed trunk of his Toyota. By law, it should have been in the back seat.

This is a somewhat confusing ritual. Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac to God, the son of his wife Sara and the birth of the Jewish nation. Ismael(sp?) was the son of his concubine, which angered God because he did not wait for his wife to conceive and thus the diversion into Islam.

The scope of so called "religious tolerance" in Western Europe and North America was highly engineered and narrowly prescriptive. It's intent was to prevent the sort of bloodshed and internal conflict which caused the 30 Years' War, and The Troubles in the UK. Those who brought forth writ and Constitutional provisos guarantying separation of Church and State, and religious freedom, were driven 100% by such considerations. They never intended for such things to be used to allow strange religions from the non Western world to be allowed full unfettered exercise in their communities and nations. Yes this is possibly bigotted. And right. We have the right to defend the core elements of Western Civilization. Failure to do so imperils our civilization and our very rights and freedoms.

It's one of a number of points on which the Qran and the basic teachings of Islam flatly contradict the Bible, which as far as I'm concerned makes Islam a heresy and a ripoff.
OMG! The poor PETA activists over there must be having magic moment, confronting the barbarism of the Islamic culture. On the one hand the liberal socialists are pressed to accomodate multi-culturalism, and on the other to exercise a faux compassion for the benefit of all animals. Enough to cause some serious cognitive dissonance there!
I keep a sheep in my bedroom, just in case I have to offer one , should Allah call on me! Its my go to sheep. Well...oh, nevermind!
Of course without the sheep , I would have to grab a family member and make do!

Having lived as a dhimmi expatriate in islamic countries, I see the hijab in a slightly different way. Its nothing less than a slave rag, to stamp the female victims of islam as slaves and animals were branded with the mark of their owners. It's used as an anti-rape marker for the muslim male to humiliate and subjugate "his" female(s) with, by marking them as claimed property with in the way a dog would pee on a shrub.
Muslim females, who have little choice (due to pressure from both within their own family, society, or the various kinds of "islamic moral" enforcers) but to be marked as a slave of islam (and therefore, their male keepers)
What I have often fond interesting is how female slaves of islam come to terms with their cognitive dissonance about islam, and their inner desire to be more like their sisters in the non-islumic world who can choose their own mates, divorce abusive husbands, and partake of some of the freedoms and rights they see non-muslims often take for granted.
Under threats, and lacking the will or the means to live without being branded, they will often kid themselves about the joys of hijab, or how it "liberates them from the lecherous stares" and wandering paws of muslim males, in the way a slave would come to terms with their hopeless situation, and say how they have learned to be thankful because they have been blessed with a "good master" who "takes care" of them. It's as if this bizarre rationalization serves as a crude band aid to protect them from facing the unpleasant reality and the true hopelessness of their predicament.
It's one once one digs deeper that the real truth is revealed...

(Fjordman)...Muhammad himself had forced sex (rape) with several of his slave girls/concubines. This is perfectly allowed, both in the sunna and in the Koran. If you postulate that many of the Muslims in Europe view themselves as a conquering army and that European women are simply war booty, it all makes perfect sense and is in full accordance with Islamic law. And Muslims do follow their medieval religious laws, even today....

If a female was raped due to her not maintaining the laws of Hijaab, she is partly to be blamed as the rapist will be considered as being seduced by her revealing form and shape. She should make Tawbah (sincerely repent) by also adhering to the laws of Hijaab.and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

As your posts pointed out, the wild-eyed PETA and femnazis have been strangely silent about the abuses of women, children and animals under Islam. IMHO, that is because they have already sold out to Satan in promoting animal and environmental "rights" over human rights, political goals over the spiritual development of individuals (who together make up our society), and "diversity" over truth. There can be only one truth, but they hold all claims to have competing merit with the words of Moses and Christ reflected in our founding documents.
The older I get, the more clearly I see that anything that is not of the true God has its origin in God's mirror opposite. Our God can work even through evil to achieve good; the "gods" of the Islamists and secularists work through good to achieve evil. They use the language of social justice to achieve social fascism, then stand silent in the face of horrible abuses. Instead of love and respect for God and the achievement of self-mastery, they teach hatred of free will and the compulsion to obedience.
Our European forefathers fought a Protestant revolution to throw off the abuses of the Holy Roman Empire and the American revolution to throw off Anglican domination. Now the emotionally dependent Left invites ayatollah domination. Pity the fools.
