Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
...but I bet not one Repub Sen has the gonads to stand up and mention Dirty Reid's land deal in Nevada...
I am sorry...I meant that she said she would vote for a dem if he were pro-LIFE.
I mistyped.
I'll gnaw off my right arm before I ever vote for a rat....
Got it. I couldn't believe she had changed her position. Of course there will never be a pro-life dem who will get their nomination.
NO we don't...but I bet if Ilena Ros-Lehtinen was in the Senate there would be!! LOL
They have a cloture vote scheduled for ll:30 TONIGHT??/
They aren't going to vote?? .. at all .. none of them ??
LOLOLOLOLOL!!
Dingy is getting a taste of his own medicine. Dingy, the bill is a sham. Give us the line item veto and you can have your phony bill.
McConnell is justifying my support for him as minority leader. How much better than Frist this guy is.
OT:
Obama voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive.
Great article to bookmark or save to a favorites file on him so as time goes on, we can counter the liberal media about him.

That is what I was thinking..Harry pulled this same stunt over and over..
Remember when Harry wouldn't let some amendments to a bill last year, when he was in the MINORITY??
BTW..do you know if that stupid amendment about establishing an "Office of Public Integrity" as been voted on??
Thanks .. bookmarked
I don't believe it has.
Dingy is making no sense. First he says that the Gregg issue has gone all the way to the supremes and been declared unconstitutional. Then he says he'll let Gregg bring it up and debate it at some time in the future.
Harry very rarely makes sense...in fact, I can't think off hand...when he did make sense.
he's desparate .. what's really up
Gregg wants to know why not do the it now if it's so important
If I was a GOP Senator...I would NEVER trust Harry to keep his word.
He just said he would talk to Hoyer about getting the line item veto bill to conference.
NOW he is saying the SCOTUS will knock it out....and it will take a while to do a bill.
Now he says he has dem Senators that want a line item veto bill....and they will have their OWN!!!
WTH??? How many times has Harry said that it won't do any good because the Supreme Court already said it isn't constituional...
He does not want that on his bill
Why?
Harry is wanting this on the record..that Gregg doesn't want to bring down the bill....but other Senators DO..
He isn't promising anything....so Gregg and McConnell better NOT fall for it..and they better deny cloture.
