Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Do you compromise with them .. do you give them half a state?

Maddy says it's one thing to talk and another to give in

She says that more enemies are being created then we can handle

She we should never give up our principals .. but we also shouldn't give up finding a solution

Now she mention the God aspect .. brings up President McKinney.... ????

Pence asked Maddy what would we talk to Iran about

The next question is about the roll of the CIC ..

about the roll of the CIC .. Pence asked once Congress gives the CIC authority what does she think that means ?

Maddy says the way the Constitution is set up and in books it is a struggle

she says debate is good and it's not easy if you are in the exe. branch

says there is no debate between the 2 branches

says she isn't questioning the authority of the CIC

she is just recommending congress understand their roll and to keep debate open

Maddy says she wants to make it clear .. she doesn't want to be in a postion that makes us fail

Faleomavela is worried about the Sunnis in Iraq .. mention that the PM is a Shiite and majority of Iraq are Shiite

Dana Rohbecker (sp?) mentions Lantos's comment about making an omelet out of scramble eggs

He wants to note that she, Maddy was the Chief when the eggs were first cracked .. that these eggs broke when she was in charge

mentions how she avoided answering questions about the Talibon when she was head of the State Department

Mentions she once ok'ing and aircraft carrier over there

Mentions that he doesn't think her comments are helping over there

WOW .. her is on a roll ... he said a whole bunch more good stuff ... LOL

He ends by saying he is sorry for being harsh in his questioning .. but that she has been harsh to this administration when she and the Clinton admin didn't do anything

She says she was very harh about the Talibon .. blah blah blah

Says she isn't against a aircraft carrier .. she just wants a debate as to way one is being sent

That comments like that don't help and if she would like to clarify that comment better

then goes on to say that going into iraq will go down in history as one of the worse policy decisions in out history
