Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

she also keeps saying that we as a nation have lost credibility

Now about Iran .. she admits they are a problem .. BUT that does not mean we should not talk to them

Says we have to get out of the thinking that talking is appeasement

That though Iran may not want to talk to us .. that we should offer so they can turn us down and then it will be on them

She wants to know why the President is so belligerent and why he is sending a carrier to Iran

She says she agrees with Biden .. That the President does not have the authority to go into Iran and there should be an over sight committee on this

Ros-Lehtinen up and mentioning that she is glad to hear that Maddy is against cutting funding .. then mentions her son and daughter who served over there

Then she mentions how Maddy once supported a troops surge and wanted to know why she chanced her mind

She also asked Maddy what she thinks would happen in Iraq if we withdrew from Iraq

Wants Maddy to give her recommendations of what bench marks she would give

Lantos butts in to remind members that each member is allotted 5 minutes .. not 5 minutes to ask a question

She mentions that she is not at the hearing with the ok from the State Department .. that she is there to give her own opinion

She says we need a new peace system in the middle east

Durbin says the President is continuing a strategy in Iraq that has failed. Says there is a different tenor on Capitol Hill since the elections. He wants a national and bi-partisan chorus. He's quoting Hagel as evidence that both sides want out.

My gr-daughter, kaybugs isn't having school today, due to SNOW lotsa snow...so we have been outside having a snowball fight...LOL

Durbin up talking about how NOW that dems are in charge, finally there isn't a do nothing Senate...that will work in a bipartisan way to "deal with Iraq".
