Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Warner's feeble attempt to spin what he is doing is not working.
Those idiots will take a beating in their reelections
The only reason why many folks put up with their BS and to keep the Majority was because of the President, the Military, the War, and the USSC
Warner kept talking about needing things clarified..and yet Petraeus sat in front of them for HOURS...and I heard John Thune on with Hugh Hewitt last night...and he said that he personally had an HOUR meeting with the General, all my himself.
If Thune could do that, why didn't Warner, McCain, et al??
If they DID, why didn't they ask these questions then...instead of on TV in front of the world, while talking about a resolution that at the least is embarrassing, and at worse, giving the message to our enemy to just hang in...and mess up THIS plan, and by golly, they will have the DEMS and RINOS pulling those troops in no time.
I heard Bill O'Reilly tell someone that we should "know" if this is GOING to work within a MONTH>
Basically, Warner said, "Gen. Petraeus, we have every confidence in you, and wish you Godspeed, but we will be micro-managing every step you make in Iraq".
Like I posted last night...if they are against this plan, that Petraeus himself helped draw up...then they shouldn't confirm him.
If they are so against the Pres. and the war, they should vote to defund.
Warner just makes up stuff that he thinks make him sound important and thoughtful. If you were unaware of what was going on you wouldn't realize how it is 180 from reality and you might fall for it.
Yep .. I am sick of these stupid games
Confirmed 81-0
And their games will continue....to endanger us all.
Thanks for enduring Warner. I had to mute him and listen to Zell Miller.

Dood up talking about Kerry and a soldier they meant on Iraq and talked to for 15-20 minutes
Capt. Brian Friedman (Sp?) .. says he talking about him on MTP a few weeks back .. but didn't mention his name
Says they were in email contact .. but no longer
Capt. Brian Friedman lost his life in Iraq
Isn't that special.
Shoveling dirt for the cameras pays well.
May Capt. Friedman rest in peace, and I thank him for his service.
May Dodd and carry rot in hell for using his death to lose a war.
I know I'm politically naive but when and by what authority were these damn fools made Commander in Chief?
They have been trying to steal the power of the CIC for YEARS
No can do Senator, have you forgotten .. Americans come first
I like Senator Enzi
He's not a pep rally kind of speaker .. but he is smart and explains things very well
He is really good.
I want to second that. He comes across as knowledgeable, prepared, very intelligent and completely decent. He is exactly what I like to see in a US Senator.
Here comes one who is the exact opposite.
Ha....kennedy is mad that we now have 109 amendments
*chuckle* The number of amendments is now 109.
