Fighting Jihad: Strategic Thinking Needed
-Full Story-

The United States of America has some of the smartest leaders in government, military, and business in the world. Yet the American government has failed to collectively use this formidable brain-power 5+ years after the attack by Jihadists on the American homeland to develop a truly strategic plan to fight the global threat of Jihad and Islamist extremism. In one of the most complex wars in American history, rather than starting with holistic, big-picture thinking towards the challenges and prioritizing resources and actions accordingly, America has spent much of the past five years after 9/11 in reactive and bureaucratic churning.

LONDON, January 31 (IranMania) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is set to visit Belarus to discuss energy cooperation, the former Soviet republic’s Foreign Ministry said.

Recent moves by Russia to raise the price Belarus pays for its oil and gas have prompted Minsk to seek alternative sources of energy, RIA-Novosti reported.

Vladimir Semashko, the first deputy prime minister, said Minsk is considering joint oil production ventures with Iran.

During his visit to Tehran on January 21-22, Belarusian Defense Minister Leonid Maltsev signed with his Iranian counterpart, Mostafa Mohammad Najar, a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation.

The parties agreed on two-way visits by expert delegations, military and technical cooperation, interaction in staff training and consultations at the level of defense ministers. The ministers discussed international security, prospects for bilateral cooperation and experiences related to formation of national defense forces.

Thanks. I missed this yesterday due to a self-imposed news blackout

I know just what you mean. I did that when I took an extended trip to visit my family. Didn't read or watch any news coverage whatsoever. I must say it was cathartic.

Got a call this afternoon from Appalachian_Dweller. He is doing very well and asked specifically for me to advise fellow FReepers there is an enhanced number of PREPAREDNESS COMMERCIALS in his area. He said it is constant and unrelenting and wants to make absolutely sure everyone here knows it is happening in his location. If anyone else has noticed such commercials in their area, please indicate that here so we can correlate if specific areas are targeted for that information.

ExSoldier, please contact Appalachian_Dweller before he has to send out the Canadian Mounted Police and French Foreign Legion to locate you. He definitely wants to talk with you.

As usual the proposed forum offended the Muslims. It should be added that Anani have received 'death threat' for his plan to participate in the event. Speaking about the danger of radical Islam is also a form of hate to the Muslims:

".. the head of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), Imad Hamad, said "this is another form of hate...in the name of fighting terrorism."

Islamist websites monitor project No. 57

Snip: On January 29, 2007, Islamist websites cited a January 18, 2007 report by the Iraqi Al-Malaf news agency (http://www.almalafpress.com ), which stated that Sheikh Abdullah Al-Janabi - the former head of the Shura Council of the Mujahideen in Fallujah and one of the U.S.'s and the Iraqi government's most wanted- is planning to return to the jihad front. According to the report, Al-Janabi plans to head a new Iraqi jihad group called "Jaysh Al-Muslimin" (The Muslim Army) which will incorporate four organizations that have decided to unite: Kata'ib Thawrat Al-'Ishrin, Liwa Al-Islam, Jaysh Al-Mujahideen, and Jaysh Al-Rashidin. The message also mentions that five other jihad groups, whose names are not given, have recently united.

Osama link with 21/7 plot
