WASHINGTON Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

Republicans should have learned by now not to let the stupid media decide anything for us. Cheney would unite the conservative machine, radio talkers, FReepers, think tanks, and churches. When united, the leftist media cannot stand against the "vast right-wing conspiracy".
Bing too? My mom loved him also.
Grandkids are coming this afternoon, so it's something I won't have to inflict on them, and I can watch tomorrow in peace and quiet.
Do please consider, if you're not already doing it, going up in the Communion line, where the Priest is, and crossing your arms to let him know that you will not receive the Body and Blood of Jesus, but want to receive a blessing, instead. If the priests are familiar with you, it will be just a further sign of your interest in converting, and it will link you to the Mass in a more personal and profound way.

I agree, Suzi. When I was in RCIA clas the instructor encouraged us to ask for the blessing, and I did it every Sunday until I was able to receive the Eucharist. It really makes you feel part of things and less of an onlooker.
I agree with you but too many people only get their news from the likes of ABC,NBC,CBS and the front page of their local rag. I am constantly amazed at how uninformed the general public is about politics. Many people I know ,who are intelligent about most things, are frankly stupid when it comes to what goes on in this country.
That's the truth. Brit Hume couldn't even get the info on the Presidential fleet of planes correct when he talked about this plane carrying Pres Kennedy's body. These two are 747's and they were not in the fleet when Kennedy was killed -- they were not even made. I find it funny that both of the 747's went into overhaul after Clinton and were completely redone -- one then the other. I would have wanted to wipe out everything Clinton as well.

You're welcome Norm
If you ask me, one of our greatest challenges is to make it "cool" to be informed and knowledgable about history and politics. Sometimes I think if we presented things as a soap opera, we would get more people interested. LOL!
Thank you. I will see about that the next Mass I attend.
