Free Republic Voting Thread: 2006 Today's Toons Favorites (Preliminary Round)

Here it is...Free Republic's 2nd annual Today's Toons favorites. I'd like to publicly thank FReepers corbie, ferri, cgk, StoneGiant, Capn TrVth, Morgan in Denver & AmericaUnite for helping me with some/all of the monthly voting. Via this voting, we tallied the selections (~15/month) which received the most votes. Those monthly selections make up this preliminary round. If you'd like to help for 2007, FReepmail me & I'll tell you what would be involved. Last year, a few of you were disappointed that some of your favorite cartoons/pics didn't make it into the preliminary round; here's your chance to make sure that this doesn't happen again...so speak now or forever hold your peace!!

There are some "rules" here, but not many. When selecting your favorites, use your own criteria. Some like funny, clever, pithy, touching, etc. Some like cartoons, photoshops, animations, etc. So, judge each entry unto itself. As the one who adds click-on audios, videos, pics, toons to existing entries, I judge these to be part of that entry as a whole...you, of course, can ignore that if you wish...but only at your own peril ;-)

Each entry is numbered (1-180). Entries 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12 involve some animation. I put them near the top because if your PC is like mine, once you click on an audio attachment the animation ceases to animate (unless you refresh/reload the page). So, you'll see the animations up front.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to send me (via comment/FReepmail/e-mail) the numbers, in any order, of your 30 (or less) favorites. If you are caught sending > 30, I won't disavow your existence, but will ask you to remove any excess. This offer will self-destruct at 5 PM ET, Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007. Good luck!

If certain pics/toons don't download (even after a refresh/reload), send me their numbers (which will show up) & I'll try to help. My plan is to post the 30 finalists in a new thread on 1/8/07 (I suggest that dial-up users wait for this round) & to ask you to select your 10 favorites in order of preference. The results of this final vote will be posted on 1/15/07. The decision of the judge (Today's Toons editor-in-chief) is final! Questions? Bring it on! And now, on with the show!!

Dear Pookie:

The ones that didn't show up for me (after refreshing a few times) were: 2, 21, 22, 29, 33, 34, 35, 40, 47, 49, 58, 59, 61, 63, 67, 69, 71, 74, 75, 76, 79, 85, 87, 88, 90, 101, and 103. (You just KNOW that as soon as I post this, some will show up, so I'll keep you updated which ones are still not appearing.)

I have started a list of favorites, but without seeing these, I just don't want to commit to a final vote yet.

FYI, ac....all of those not showing up for you, with the exception of #35, were placed on-line via either ImageShack or TinyPic. As I recall, Smokin' Joe had the same problem last year. Let me know your update & I'll work with you to try to make sure you can see all of them...

Okey-dokey! Although limiting me to only 30 is cruel and unusual punishment, you know, especially since every single Ramirez and Cox and Forkum one should be in there!
