Thanks. I enjoy Mark Steyn. And I highly recommend his latest book, "America Alone" - it's classic Steyn writing on a very thought-provoking subject.

Bookmark, and as I do, Steyn quotes the guy that I quote a lot... "Permanence is the illusion of every age".

"Permanence is the illusion of every age".
Pardon my ignorance, but whose quote is that? It's a good one.

Thanks===Mark is one of the few writers alive today to deserve being called a "Renaissance man", with the distinction that, not only does he cover many fields, but that everything he writes, whether about Broadway, literary figures, singers of popular songs, or Islamic terrorism and its frightening demographic, is pertinent
in the points it makes, lively in its prose, and offers insights and perspectives virtually no one else has: for example, AMERICA ALONE, which I am halfway through reading now.

He truly is a treasure.

I was wondering the same thing, so I just googled it, and it comes up with many results, and all of them refer to Steyn himself. So I guess it is his.

I'm reading Mark's book and I just came across it; looks like a quote from Tony Blair.
While I disagree with PM Blair on probably 75%+ of what he has to say (his political philosophy is primarily socialist after all), he's got it right on the WOT and a few other things.

Unless Steyn stole it from Blair (unlikely, why would he need to) it is his. It shows up as written by him, with no attribution, in a number of different places, essays of his. Doesn't sound like him, though, sounds like a politician trying to sound Churchillian.
