wish someone had called in and told simpson, may GWB has conviction of his belief of what he is doing. and that a presidency by committee wouldn't help anyone!

snugs I agree with you totally that they should not publicly state their disagreements with the President but should do so privately...it drives me crazy when that's done but he always turns the other cheek...that's how he was raised....but what was so telling to me was when his dad President Bush 41 broke down when he was in Florida at a legislative event honoring his son Jeb now the former Gov of FL...he was proud of both of his sons but he was very hurt by those who speak out publicly against them from "friends"...I know it's caused some problems with our former First Lady and she is not known for holding her tongue when you speak untoward her children...you'd think by now their necks would be sore from whiplash:)

I think that one does it because publicly the VP does not come over as touchy feely and when you see something like that photo portrays it means so much more.

I'm almost surprised that there is a white house photographer there during that time. I'm not real sure that i would want one around.

I suspect in this 24/7 media age the only time there is not is in the private quarters in the evening and during the night and on such days as election night that is not even the case.

does anyone know how big Blair house is? I mean how many bedrooms, is it able to hold the whole family, or do some family members have to stay in a hotel?

I agree with you about folks trying to sink the President. They seem to think that since they were big shots before, that they know what needs to be done now. The world has changed since 1992, and these guys don't seem to be hip to the new tricks. They're like old generals; still fighting the last war.

Looking at the website it seems pretty big you can do a virtual tour etc - looks like an interesting site to visit when one has a bit time on your hands. It has the history etc etc of the house.

I believe I read a similar comment you made on another day, and I think you are so right. Makes a lot of sense. He looks so incredibly sincere in these photos--and I am sure that is because he truly is sincere in his grief and in his desire to care for and comfort Mrs. Ford.

Good analysis. Just because people are old and their experience was a few years ago it does not mean we should ignore them but also it does not mean that because it was correct and right for that time that it works today.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. IMHO I think the President has got the balance about right, he has people in his government of that era and even before if you count the babe of the Ford Administration Dick Cheney and of course until very recently Don Rumsfeld but he also has people from his time in Texas and of course elsewhere - newer blood with fresh ideas and different backgrounds.

A mix of old and young, new ideas and old ideas.

It is sad when some in the older generation just want a status quo and are not prepared to move on and embrace new ideas.

Those that are IMHO often have a younger outlook and remain more active in their advanced years providing their health is good. I would suspect the President's father falls into that category.
