The President's plane is arriving at Andrews Air Force Base at this moment.
I guess we are just a bunch of middle aged white chicks, LOL!
I remember that; for those of you who don't, you can all imagine the kind of "reception" that got from the so called "base."
Yep .. there is a caller on now Bashing Bush about Iraq
Not sure what that has to do with President Ford
GMTA!!! LOL
We will be glad we took the time to witness this and honor his memory, his service. Remember as much as possible!
Don't let our President stand alone!
To see the Joint Chiefs pass by both Mrs. Ford herself and President Ford's coffin was very moving.
The Betty Ford clinic, coupled with, in hindsight, the healing that Ford brought to the nation, makes them both jewels in the crown of this nation, specifically for their generosity to the country.
Did you hear the guy who said he was from Iran and that they were in D.C. and someone told them if Carter was elected the Shah would be overthrown?
Yes, and you must.
Making political hay of a funeral lacks both class and dignity. Praying for you sir or madam that you will drop your cynicism and take the message that was given today. National healing and unity.
It's gonna be a looooooooong 2 years .. I don't know if I have the stomach to watch the Senate every day like before
Steven's did sound a bit rattled, didn't he? Vice President Cheney is a man that speaks from his heart and connects immediately with me.
:)
I thought I heard that Reagan's was evening too, but in the summertime so it was still light out.
I've been watching the feed on the Internet (C-SPAN). I've turned down the volume several times during the multiple call sessions they've had. I wish they wouldn't take calls when it's something like this.
And they did it without fanfare or self-promotion!
It reminds me of what Bush said before he was elected when a reporter asked him what he would do if he lost, and he said, "Go home and go fishing with the old man."
Very very moving. Speaker Hastert was great, and the words from Vice President Cheney? --- I have no words to explain them. If they brought me to tears, I can't imagine how Mrs. Ford felt.
But so far, the one moment that will always stand out --- when I think back on this, is when the Naval officer acknowledged President Ford with the Bosun's pipe whistle. Simple, but so so touching.
I agree and ditto. I'm watching C-Span now --- they're still providing coverage.
No, I missed hearing hat call
Cindy Sheehan sure managed to find a way to blame Pres. Ford for the deaths in Iraq...
Since I try to not think of Cindy...I am not recalling now how she figured out that Pres. Ford was partly to blame, but she managed to.
