Anyone who thinks our enemies aren't aware of what goes on at home has his head completely in the sand. This is further evidenced by Al-Jazeera's front page story today.
جيسي جاكسون: صدام كان مجرما لكنه كان حليفنا أيضا
The literal translation is:
Jesse Jackson: Saddam Hussein was an evil man, but he was also our ally
Think about that for a minute. Arab news doesn't even feel the need to explain who the hell Jesse Jackson is. They're that aware of our internal politics. Furthermore, this makes their front page story!! It would be nice if one day, we as a country would stop handing our enemies ammunition. They are completely in-tune with what's going on over here.
he was jesses' ally against the USA govt
I thought it was Jesse Jackasson.
Sure he was Jackson you jack@ss. Thats why we took him down and him face his people for his crimes against them. These leftist @sses are preaching that we should "talk" to our enemies, but when we do that, they yurn around call them our "allies" in a lame attempts to score political points when we try establish diplomatic relations and send someone to shake his hand.
That's exactly what Jack@ss is referring to, the pic of Rumsfeld shaking his hand when we were trying to establish diplomatic ties back in '83 or so.
Jesse should keep his lips zipped (among other things). What a has been.
It also possibly was a good strategy at one point. Does Jesse realize Iran was viewed as a bigger threat at the time?
Got his name in the news didn't he?
We always knew jj was an enemy of the United States. Here he is admitting saddam was evil and considering him our ally. Speak for yourself.
Is the translation correct?
Well for a while in the 1980's he was.
"Well for a while in the 1980's he was."
Not truly, he was the enemy of our enemy. The common enemy being radical islam in Iran.
Jesse once had a lover, before she sued him.
Good....then they also know that Jackson is a blithering idiot....fo sho.....
If I'm not mistaken, Ronaldus Magnus cut off all aid and assistance after one of Saddam's MiGs put an Exocet into the USS Stark in 86-87(?).
Reminds me of the Cosby show episode where he tells his son, "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out". A lesson to be learned here.
Mirage F1. French, I believe.
Thank you for the correction. It has been 20 years, and the brain gets a little fuzzy on the details... ;^)
I'm pretty sure you're right. He was also an unwilling ally after that, too. I always wondered why we quit the Kuwait war within spitting distance of Baghdad. Then I heard that Bush (#1) thought it was more prudent to keep him in power and let him keep Iran in line than it was for us to do it. Probably seemed like a good idea at the time.
was jesse jackson speaking out from hymee town?????
another enemy of the US!!!....too bad he can't have his own necktie party!!!
