"A suspected illegal alien from Mexico is being held in the Salt Lake County jail in lieu of $500,000 after running a red light and broadsiding a family of six, killing three, on Christmas Eve.

Carlos Prieto was arraigned this morning and charged with three counts of automobile homicide, three counts of driving under the influence and driving without a license. The charging documents say his blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit, KSL-TV of Salt Lake City, reported.

The Ceran family, active in local theater and the Church of Latter Day Saints, were returning home after attending a performance of Dicken's "The Christmas Carol," which featured several family members, when their car was struck by a truck driven by Carlos Prieto.

The crash killed Cheryl Ceran, 47, and two of her children, 15-year-old Ian and 7-year-old Julinna. Cheryl Ceran's husband, Gary Ceran, 45, and their 19-year-old daughter, Clarissa, and 12-year-old son, Caleb, were injured."

Great, next we'll find out he has been arrested before and has been deported several times.

Probably. How many times did he vote in the last election?

Its what we voted for..it what we will get in spades....this will happen more and more...they don't have insurance...they don't care about our rules and laws...we are becoming a third world country..look for another 50 million in 15 years...then watch our country fall apart...John Edwards the liberal Democrat says the US has the very rich..and the very poor....exactly..if you allow 40 million illegals in with a 1st grade education...what do you expect....and it will get worse because they will destroy the middle class....

There is a bottom line to this thread, and that is "who's praying for Carlos", as expressed by the father of the family. One of the area papers told it this way, "There are hundreds of thousand of people praying for us, who's praying for Carlos".

Chances are he'd be right back. For this guy, I'm for locking him up and throwing away the key.

There is an old boyfriend of mine I'm still friends with, although he's been married to another gal for some years now. He had three adopted children... two of whom have now been killed by homicidal maniacs (otherwise known as drivers).

One of them, his 26-year-old son, was killed a few years back in the Los Angeles area. He was struck by a drunk-on-his @$$ Mexican guy who had his whole family in the car with him. No license, no registration, no insurance. The guy lied and said the driver "went that-a-way." The investigator figured out he was lying, but by then his blood alcohol level had gone down.

However, I'd figure they'd still at least arrest the b@st@rd for MANSLAUGHTER if nothing else.... but NO!! It's been something like three or four years, and they have never arrested him!! Unbelievable!

The ex-boyfriend and his wife moved to Las Vegas, Nevada some years back. The younger of their two adopted daughters was recently killed by a hit-and-run b@st@rd driving a white van. As far as I know, the driver has not yet been apprehended. The guy kept on going. Some witnesses thought he might be Hispanic, but who knows? He didn't stop.

I don't know how much more tragedy this man and his wife can endure.

I've typed up lots of medical reports for Hispanic men who have drunk so heavily that their livers have rotted out and their condition is terminal by their mid-thirties or forties; and for some Hispanic women too.

Apparently far too many of our Mexican "friends" see nothing wrong with getting exceedingly drunk and then driving...

Yes, but on the bright side, the construction company selling million dollar houses, gets dirt cheap labor.

Privatize the profits, socialize the costs. Businesses get cheap labor, and American families get killed by drunk drivers. IMO.

It is very unfair to label this poor man as an ILLEGAL.......our local papers refuse to do this, referring to them as residents of whatever town they happen to be driving through.sarc/off

The question is: Do undocumented illegals drive drunk more often and get into more fatal crashes.

The answer is: Yes, they do. Lots more.

It is not racist of xenophobic to point out this simple fact.

"Its what we voted for" Unfortunately, you are right.

It's what we get because of those who did vote for it and those who didn't bother to vote at all. This is not what I voted for, and I did vote.
