The Iraqi government is "anxious to get Saddam's execution done" and that it is likely to be carried out before the New Year perhaps even within the next 24 hours, a U.S. military official told FOX News.

I hope so.
There could be way more than 36 threads on this topic by the time he swings if this keeps up.
Let's see.... Nifong, Saddam... all we need is Osama to make the year complete! Happy New Year!
Hang down your head,
Saddam Fooly,
hang down your head and cry.
Wow, that was fast.
The only reason I posted this article is because it's the first story (I think) where a military official suggested the execution may be carried out within a mere 24 hours. Other than that, I agree with you -- no need for a billion threads on when something so soon might happen.
24, 36, now 24 hours. sure hope they are not business hours.
My guess is that there will be no public announcement about the execution until it has been carried out. If they announce it will happen in 24, 48, 72 hours then there will be widespread violence in preparation for it.
My only thought is that it's too merciful for what he did to those he killed. They should have given him one of those options. Write them all down, draw from a hat, and not tell him until it's time. Let him sweat it out thinking about all the things he did to others and wondering which one he gets.
I see that. I am wondering if we will have new hanging threads scrolling by for the next 36 or whatever hours. Chances are good.
When is High Noon in Baghdad?
I believe this is misinformation, along with the statements that it might be February or later. We don't want anyone to know the true hour.
Or maybe he's on the scaffold, and people keep pretending to pull the lever, but it's not hooked up yet!

The Iraqis hurt by this man deserve to be freed by his death.
Good for them.
Go ahead, punk.
Make my day.
