I swear, I cannot believe they are going to hang his butt while another trial is going on. Why not, if he were to be found guilty or innocent in the second trial, he'd still hang. This way saves the bother of the second trial, unless there are other defendants not also to be hung based on the last trial.
Just do it. It's not going to be pretty afterwords whenever it's done, so get it over with.

If we turn him over to the Iraqis, we're nuts. Baathists have infiltrated every level of government and Saddam will "miraculously escape" within an hour of the turnover. My prediction.
OTOH, if the American military oversees the execution, how sweet it'll be!

It's not clear whether the videotape will be broadcast on Iraqi television. Even if it's not, it'll probably be on youtube, or the new AOL Video site, by Monday.
Happy New Year!

Earlier Thursday, Saddams chief lawyer implored world leaders to prevent the United States from handing over the ousted leader to Iraqi authorities for execution, saying the former dictator should enjoy protection from his enemies as a "prisoner of war.">/i> Wow. Is he saying that the Iraqi people are enemies of Saddam? That's a pretty stunning admission, although I don't quite think he meant it that way...

that turnover is going to be wild - you can bet that once he's handed over, the Sunni militia are going to make some move to free him - it will likely fail, but they will make some attempt. That means we, and/or the Iraqi government troops, will get to kill or capture a bunch more of them.

He's not a valid "prisoner of war" he was caught in civilian clothes not a uniform. Hang 'em high.

I can't believe he's going to be hung before his appeal is complete. His appeal is complete. The other trial is for a separate charge, that is still more murders, not an appeal of his conviction for murdering all those Kurds.

I'm with you. The Muslims are just always pissed-off! Aren't they ever happy? I mean, what about just one day when they play soccer and taalk with their neighbors? They are members of the 'religion of peace' so one day of actual peace would be nice.
Seriously, an absoluter butcher/tyrant is about to get his due. And, thousands of people are all upset! This is madness. If there is some sort of large protest, doesn't it follow that these protestors should be shot on site? Could you imagine a bunch or Nazi's arrogantly walking around after the allies took over? No freakin' way. The message was clear: Freedom is in. Tyrany is out.
When will we actually deliver the message of freedom in such a way the rowdy/vicious Muslims actually understand we mean it?

I'm no fan of the death penalty, but I think this is necessary, and I hope it's true. The guy has got to go. This will make the Sunnis mad? Well, they're already mad, they're already raising hell. At least will end once-and-for-all the dream of Saddam returning to power, and that might help nudge the Iraqi extremists one inch closer to moderation.
To: Disturbin
That doesn't make sense (what you quoted). If they are a prisoner of war, they are already in the hands of their adversary.

I am against the death penalty (harsher punishments are available than giving a shot that calmly puts you to sleep), but in this case I agree with the masses. No big sleep for Saddam. He'll hang by the neck until dead. Hopefully they'll use the short drop technique, rather than the long drop long practiced in the US. It takes longer and is probably more painful as well.
