Right.
Amazing, ain't it?
I think Nifong will cheese out before the next hearing -- he's going to say he can't go forward without her.
And he's gonna get away with it.
Somebody should look into contempt of court or assault (not assault and battery) or disturbing the peace charges or whatever they can find against the panther who made the "Dead man walking" remark in court.
"Is this a member of the Bar, or the entity itself acting in an offcial capacity?"
The Bar.
This is just a smoke screen...the Bar willjust slap (one of their own)on the wrist. The DA ought to be filing some type charges.
I am very proud of myself, I knew exactly what those letters stood for :)

State Bar seeks to discipline Nifong
By Andrea Weigl, Staff Writer
The N.C. State Bar is seeking to discipline Durham County District Attorney Michael Nifong for pre-trial statements he made to the media about the criminal investigation involving Duke Universitys lacrosse team.
The State Bars complaint filed today against Nifong alleges he violated rules that prohibit prosecutors from making statements that may prejudice the defendants and the court case.
Nifong is pursuing kidnapping and sexual assault charges against three former members of the Duke University lacrosse team: David Evans, 23, of Bethesda, Md.; Collin Finnerty, 20, of Garden City, N.Y.; and Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Fells, N.J. They are charged with attacking their accuser, an escort service dancer, at a team party last March.
The 17-page complaint details many of the statements Nifong made to various media outlets since March about the case. The complaint concludes that Nifong should have known his conduct was "prejudicial to the administration of justice" and that "Nifong engaged in conduct involving "dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation."
Nifong could not immediately be reached for comment.

Just got here! GOOD news, huh?
The feds, under direction of that one Congressman, could institute civil rights charges against him (violation of civil rights -- here due process -- under color of law), and he could face ten years in federal prison because the cops had guns when they arrested the players on his orders. That's a bit of a stretch, though. However, a federal prison term of some type on that basis is not beyond the realm of the reasonably possible.

"Hate mail" is probably the wrong term here. I meant mail telling the govt. "Hey, Nifong is way out of line and you need to do something here," not the crazy stuff.
Whom do you think heads the Bar? Conservatives?lololololololoolololol.I think even the lib lawyers saw that this would make them really look bad so they had to do something.
If he gets disbarred, he just won't practice. But it doesn't stop him from being hired as a consultant for some Dem dude.
Yes....Yes....Yes....!!!!!
You heard correctly that grand jury proceeding are not recorded. Of course grand jury members could testify as to what was done. But Nifong may have never been in the grand jury room. Probably the investigators gave all the evidence.
It might be relatively quick given these particular allegations. There likely will be little need for state bar investigators to interview fact witnesses. Nifong's own recorded and published words appear to form the heart of the case.
After Meehan's testimony I posted that this case had gone radioactive. The fallout for Nifong has begun. Anyone with any common sense wants out from under the spotlight, including the Bar. A little late perhaps, but they have sent Nifong a notice that this is his last chance. The train is leaving the station Nifong, and by God you better be on it!
Yeah...and aren't those people that voted for him going to be so PROUD??? /s
I SOOOOO agree with your thinking....
AFT? It refers to the rear area of a ship. :)
I think it will go like this:
1. Nifong sworn in.
2. Case dropped.
3. Nifong retired as his cancer comes back or some other medical issue arises.
4. Case dropped.
