They prefer appearance over substance.
Duncan Hunter is the MAN!!!!!!!!!!
In 2004 they tried running a tired and unattractive old man, and found it almost impossible to get anyone to like him, if they didn't before. (And most people didn't.)
They are not going to make the same mistake again so soon. Gore's star has set.
Sorry, but you're wrong. Betrayal of your president in the midst of a campaign makes one absolutely untrustworthy and absolutely unworthy of support by any other member of that party.

Q Senator McCain, in his comments yesterday, said that the American people had been led to believe by the administration that the Iraq war would be a "day at the beach." Does that concern the White House? Do you feel that you're losing support among Republicans?
MS. PERINO: I think it's important to look back at what President Bush has said from the beginning. If you look at what he has said, starting even in March of 2003, that, "Helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable, and free country will require our sustained commitment." Throughout the year, since we've been in Iraq, he has called it -- he has said that it is difficult work to do, going to require sacrifice and patience, prevailing in Iraq is going to require much more tough fighting, it's going to require more sacrifice, and he's thankful for the sacrifices that the military and military families are making.
And we haven't even gotten to McCain's hatred of the 1st amendment.
The man is not worthy of the presidency.
Hunter is a conservative.
The rest are different colors of the same kind of horse.
Rather than a 3rd party, I'd favor a religious/traditional values conservative caucus being formed within the Republican Party.
Huckabee is leaving Arkansas with no Pubbies in office state wide. Quite a legacy.
No.
He just wants to treat terrorist killers who belong to no army, wear no uniform, murder and torture their opponents, are out to destroy us, and never signed the Geneva Convention as regular P.O.W.'s
If he's not a traitor, he is a man with a serious reality gap and compromised judgement.
Washington, Adams, Monroe, Madison, Jefferson, Lincoln Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan - that's about it.
Right now, he needs name recognition and right now he is beginning to get that.
I would rather not prejudge the outcome in two years out.
McCain did more than you or I to get the President re-elected. He is not required to agree with him 100%. President Bush would not call him a "traitor". You also must know there are few here who have defended the President more than I.
Congress is empowered under the Constitution to regulate federal elections. Bad or ineffective ideas are not unConstitutional.
I do not dispute that and am no friend of his. But he is no traitor.
Good luck. They might even let you give a few speeches at the RINO nomiation convention.
The 2008 nomination is the line in the sand. If a RINO wins the nomination, the hand writing is on the wall.
The big moneyed RINOS - the Keans, Whitmans, Mehlmans, Eisenbergs, etc have taken ove the party of Lincoln and made it the party of Democrat Light.
But we will have to wait and see what happens. Right may yet come out on top. It happened before with Reagan.
McCain was in Ohio when he made the claim that the President had said that this war would "a walk in the park."
That is an out-and-out lie and is a betrayal of the CinC, and McCain knows it.
Tony Snow was not shy about pointing it out either. And he is the President's mouthpiece.
McCain has done irreparable damage to the President and to the conservative cause with: (1) The gang of 14, and (2) CFR.
My opinion comes from observing history. Sometimes unanticipated deviations from historical precedent occur but that is very rare.
However, Hunter might make an excellent VP choice since wide name recognition is not required for that.
Only time will tell if the country will ever recover from the damage they have done, at all levels.
"McCain has done irreparable damage to the President and to the conservative cause with: (1) The gang of 14, and (2) CFR." Complete nonsense. (1)with the new Congress using the Nuclear option would have had the RATS doing the same thing. (2) CFR is within the power of Congress's constitutional authority to regulate federal elections and has not harmed the GOP at all.
I think a traditional values conservative caucus within the Republican Party would wield considerable formal authority, and that would made them a formidable obstacle for any nominee seeking the presidency in our party.
A 3rd party would be lost in the media wilderness.
A traditional values caucus could control the party.
"HEY...are you a fellow member of the procrastinators club ? we're getting ready to release our New Year's predictions for 2006."
I'm still working on my picks for '92.
Yeah, I remember that one except I thought his name was "Osama bin Laden or Osama Obama." said Teddy, 'Let me refill my glass and try again."
