House speaker may not seat certified winner in disputed race (Pelosi may cheat FL-13 voters)

SARASOTA — Incoming U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is considering not seating the state-certified Republican winner of a contested congressional election when the new Congress goes into session next month, her spokesman said.

Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said the congresswoman has not yet decided what to do about the contested District 13 race, in which Republican candidate Vern Buchanan was certified the winner by the state by a margin of 369 votes over Democrat Christine Jennings.

"The bottom line here is that nothing's off the table," Hammill said.

The House is currently investigating, and Jennings has pressed on with a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the touch-screen voting machines she insists malfunctioned during the election.

Well, well, well. Sounds as if Speaker Pelosi wants to ruin 'bipartisanship' right from day 1. If she does this, she can kiss Republican co-operation goodbye. Perhaps that would be a good thing, I don't know. But she obviously covets this seat and is seriously pondering abusing her power to get it. Would you expect anything less from a godless San Francisco liberal?

At least she's trying to do something that dems are notoriously good at---cheating.

The Democrats are going to show the Republicans how to use political power.

They'll evenutally screw up, but they won't be DINOs.

The Republicans will do nothing, you know that as well as I do. They will be content with table scraps, invitation to a few golf matches, and an occasional pork project for their district. In return, they may make some noise, but it will be just that - noise. A real Party would shut down the House.

Okay! When the Senate Dims loose their majority of One when South Dakota Rep Gov names himself as the replacement then will see what gridlock really looks like.

She learned it from another CA Dem, Leon Panetta, the infamous "leave some votes at the bottom of the box" seating of a Dem over the GOP winner several years ago. These people have no shame, to claim it is some new tactic devised by Republicans this last decade or so every time the do something crooked or unethical now that they've done so many times previously.

Only difference is that the Dem majority is much smaller and more fragile than it was previously. I know others think that the Republicans would take it lying down. I don't buy into that. It wouldn't totally stop the Congress, but it would make it clear that there will be no honeymoon. That's what I feel, anyway.

Although I completely cannot fathom how Pelosi has the power to "decide" not to seat the state certified winning candidate, but I would say that if she does such a thing she'd better consider consequences should Senator Johnson be unable to return.

In fact, I hope she does deny the winner his seat.

The Republicans will do nothing...

It's so much easier being a minority party. All you have to do is gripe and complain. I think some actually prefer that to actually being a majority party and having to get things done.

Exactly! You'd think Johnson's delicate condition would keep her perhaps a bit more respectful?

I guess they figure every Republican win in a close election is really a win for the Democrats and should be treated as such.

These are really, really lowlife people!

How is Senator Johnson? Has Reid left his side or is he still there watching every blip on Johnsons monitor?

I think we all be surprised by the number of DINO's among the democrats. There are more DINO'S than RINO's in my opinion. There are more democrats who come from red districts and red states than Republicans who come from blue states and blue districts.

No word but, well, the fact that there's never BEEN *any* word tells me not good, poor guy.

Even if he lives, the SD people (and us) should raise holy hell if Pelosi really refuses this R winner the seat.
