Thank you for posting the link to the BBC article, very nicely written.

How well I remember the election in 1976! Not only did President Ford lose to Mr. Peanut, but I had developed a really bad toothache and was in terrible pain all night, until I could get to a dentist the next day.

RIP, President Ford. God bless his family.

CNN just ran comments from NANCY REGAN, spelled wrong. unreal.

the only reason CNN ran them - she used her Ford comments to push for stem cell research.

Kind of wild, the only living Republican Presidents are both Bush's.

I only read FREEPERS when a Republican dies. I just hope that we continue our class act when Carter dies. I am afraid that I won't even be able to ready FR because of the hatred towards him. I think since only 43 people have ever served as President even the one's that we don't agree with politics should be respected on the day of the deaths and perhaps funeral day.

"Keep an eye out for an exclusive interview President Ford gave to CBS News on the condition it only be aired after his death. I have no idea if there's anything especially revealing in it, but it does exist."

Oh, great. How long ago? When was it taped?

Yes, chance, circumstances and pure luck can alter lifetime events. Some of the worse people have the best luck in life.

Speaking of Nancy Reagan, can you believe the statement that was issued in her name!? Talk about political!!

"I was deeply saddened this evening when I heard of Jerry Fords death. Ronnie and I always considered him a dear friend and close political ally. His accomplishments and devotion to our country are vast, and even long after he left the Presidency he made it a point to speak out on issues important to us all. I know that his early support of stem cell research has been important in getting the U.S. Congress to debate the potential lifesaving cures and treatments that may result. I know the days ahead will be very difficult for Betty and my love and deepest sympathy go out to her and the entire Ford family."

The funeral will be just days prior to the coronation.

I have never seen such sloppy texting on Fox News

And it got worse with that nervous info bimbo a few minutes ago that hopefully got pulled by now who referred to the former President as a "sort of" a "favorite son" in Michigan.  FNC never sounded soooo dumb.

Having delved into the history that was hidden in some mighty obscure places, I would say that my personal life is better because of him, Ronnie, Nixon and GHWB...just to name a few.

My first presidential election was in 1972, when I was 18, and I voted for Richard Nixon. I was so proud to be among the first groups of 18 y.o.'s who got to vote!

(You have a very nice home page, BTW!)
