Thank you for posting the link to the BBC article, very nicely written.

How well I remember the election in 1976! Not only did President Ford lose to Mr. Peanut, but I had developed a really bad toothache and was in terrible pain all night, until I could get to a dentist the next day.

RIP, President Ford. God bless his family.

My son and I met him as he left the Concord (california) Hilton after a speaking engagement.

The SS lined us up via the kitchen leaving route.
He seemed like a very gentle soul as he leand over to shake our hands.

Then I moved out of state.
