MINNEAPOLIS -- Seven years after the U.S. government moved to take the bald eagle off the endangered species list, the Bush administration intends to complete the step by February, prodded by a frustrated libertarian property owner in Minnesota.
The delisting, supported by mainstream environmental groups, would represent a formal declaration that the eagle population has sufficiently rebounded, increasing more than 15-fold since its 1963 nadir to more than 7,000 nesting pairs.
Bald eagles, like this one shown hunting for fish along Missouri's Wappapello Lake, have rebounded to more than 7,000 nesting pairs after their numbers fell dangerously low. (By Paul Davis -- Daily American Republic Via Associated Press)

The next challenge is to ensure the national symbol's continued protection.
"By February 16th, the bald eagle will be delisted," said Marshall Jones, deputy director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. "We'll be clear so people won't think, 'It's open season on bald eagles.' No way."

I've been killing mr.bambi for 25 years lol . I love too hunt!!!
What a conundrum for environut libs. One the one hand they want to be able to claim a victory in their endangered species act, but on the other hand they don't want landowners to be free to do things (like cutting down a few trees) to deprive these birds of .001% of their possible habitat.
That's near Duluth, right?
We're south of Galesburg, IL and one day my daughter, who was sitting on the couch, looked out the window and said, "Mom, there's a bald eagle in the tree." I just laughed at her and went over and looked...sure enough there was an eagle right outside out window halfway up a large walnut tree. I had never seen any this far from the Mississippi before.
Now radical liberals will be going for hunting licenses, if they thought burning the flag was cool killing Bald Eagles will be like getting to meet Che' Guevara.
I promise I'll only eat 1 (well maybe 2)
I see them all the time in the bluff country between Red Wing and Winona. I boat in that stretch almost every weekend in the summer, and I can't recall a weekend when I didn't see a bunch of them. There's a nest across the river from an island I stay at a lot. I'll have to see if I have any pics I can post. You can also see them along highway 61 between Lake City and Winona. There are spots where you can pull over and take pictures.
Hunting and eating? Good stuff.
How about removing aligators as there are millions in Florida alone?
And how about the non-native sea cow or manatee?
Doesn't it work better if you tie up some light colored live cats?
One of them looks more like the Tufted Titmouse!
Q: How do you catch a Tufted Titmouse?
A: Boobytrap???
