KUWAIT CITY Is it religiously acceptable for Muslims to wish their Christian colleagues or acquaintances a Merry Christmas? In Kuwait, it depends on who you ask.
Days before the holiday that is not officially celebrated in this small oil-rich state, fundamentalists like Mohammed al-Kandari began urging fellow Muslims not to extend the greeting to Christians they know.
Al-Kandari, who heads the Society of Sharia, or Islamic law, told Al-Watan daily the celebration contradicted with Islam because Christians believe Jesus was the son of God.
The decline in tolerance of other faiths comes as political Islam is sharply increasing its presence in mainstream politics across the region.
Kuwait University political science teacher Ahmed al-Baghdadi said posters expressing sentiments similar to Al-Kandari's appeared around campus for several days. "It is dangerous because it means that the extremist movement feels stronger than before ...maybe in the future they will call for closing down (non-Muslim) places of worship."
Senior Shiite scholar Mohammed Baqer al-Mohri issued a statement saying Muslims can "congratulate their brethren the Christians" on Christmas and "show joy" on the occasion.
"Let all Christians in the world know that all Muslims love Jesus ... and his mother Mary," just like the holy Quran tells us to, al-Mohri said.
The government is fighting extremism with a campaign to spread "moderation" especially among young men, many of whom have adopted fundamentalist Islam and taken up arms in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
On Christmas Eve, Al-Watan columnist Nabil al-Fadhl urged officials leading the campaign to make a concrete gesture to Christians.
"It is a silly joke to try to preach moderation .... if you do nothing about those who fight Christmas and describe as infidel

There are no doubt many things that don't really clash with Western religions. The main clash as I see it is their murderous beliefs regarding treatment of non-Muslims. There won't be much peace in the world until they abandon that particular insanity. And of course, I am not speaking about all Muslims, just speaking about the radical ones.
No problem. I wasn't very hurt, just a little surprised... and something to ponder over.
A very Merry Christmas to you and your family. May God bless you in the coming new year.
The ideology of tolerance, understanding, peace, love and cooperation in action.</sarcasm> We don't need their season's greetings. We do need them to find an ideology that opposes head-chopping and neck-sawing while singing religious ditties.
.
I don't care what Muslims think anymore. The left is so stupid to keep kowtowing to them because we might 'offend' them someway or we look at one of their billions of 'holy sites' or ask someone to lift their veil so we identify someone to help keep others safe. I don't give a dingdang anymore. Grrrrr. So there.
But thats only the GOOD muslims..
The BAD muslims could care less.. what christians do..
Thank God for BAD muslims..
I too would be a little grumpy if I had to work on Christmas Day. Besides, what are you doing eating at McDonald's on Christmas Day?
Muslims that believe what Muslims are supposed to believe, believe that:
1. Jesus was born of of the Virgin Marinha (Mary)
2. That he was spoken into her womb by the breath (Spirit) of God.
3. That Jesus healed the sick.
4. That Jesus made the blind see.
5. That Jesus made the lame walk.
6. That Jesus healed lepers.
7. That Jesus raised people from the dead.
8. That Jesus was crucifed.
9. That Jesus sits at the right hand of God today.
10. One day soon, Jesus' human foot will touch down on the Mount of Olives and he will rule and judge the world forever.
11. That Jesus is the Christ - the Savior of the world (Isa ala Messiah- 11 times in the Koran).
Not much difference between Christians and Muslims when you get down to it. And, the real difference can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit, according to Jesus....
Interesting to think about...
According to Jesus its not what you believe its whom you ARE...
With Muslims(and literally any other religion on this planet) its what you believe...
"You MUST be born again"- Jesus
Oh that is SOOOOOOOOO good. Too bad it's soooo true.
Nice ears ObamaRama.
Jesus only said that to one person- Nicodemus. He also said that the truth of who he is can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit, not by flesh and blood. If you think about it and read the gospels, the disciples did not know who Jesus REALLY was until after He went back to heaven- even though they lived with him for 3 years...so, why do we have such impatience with others who don't know yet? If we just lift up Jesus (as opposed to Christianity) all men will come....
If they, all come, then revealed prophecy is WRONG...
They will NOT all come..
yes- but we don't know who will come and who will not. But, Jesus is available to all...and only he knows who is saved or unsaved...he is the judge...
"And I, when I am lifted up, all men will come"...Jesus.
"KUWAIT CITY" and why the HELL did we liberate them!?
