No Goode: Congressman's Hateful Comments Demand Response (Liberal attacks on Virgil Goode)
Fox News ^

Posted on 12/25/2006 7:21:42 AM PST by Princip. Conservative

Here we go. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, has yet to take office, and already the ugliness begins.

Mr. Ellison plans to bring his Koran with him on Jan. 4 when he takes the oath of office. The Koran is the Muslim holy book. If Christians and Jews can bring their Bibles, why shouldn’t Mr. Ellison be able to bring his Koran?

The answer given this week by Virginia Rep. Virgil Goode was simple enough: Because Mr. Goode doesn’t believe in the Koran, Mr. Ellison doesn’t have any right to either. I kid you not.

What could be less American? Or less Christian?

In a letter sent to constituents, Goode wrote: “When I raise my hand to take the oath on Swearing-In Day, I will have the Bible in my other hand. I do not subscribe to using the Koran in any way.”

It gets worse.

“The Muslim representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district, and if American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration, there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran.”

More Muslims elected to office? More Muslims seeing our government as representative and fair? Is this a bad thing?

we've been over and over this- there is NO 'test of religion' a 'test of religion' would be having the person stand before courts and asked to confirm that they beleive in God- if not, they couldn't get the job- however, there are still some states that DO actually have a TRUE test of religion when running for office- swearing an oath is in no way a 'test of religion' as has been defined by the courts. that argument doesn't hold water as much as oponents of religion would like it to be- As stated a person does NOT have to even agree that there is a God- BUT they had better agree that the majority of citizens DO beleive there is a God and that WE hold it sacred to swear before God- the person is absolutely free to deny the existence of God- but they'd better agree to our mandate of swearing an oath or affirmation. http://sacredscoop.com

My issue is with the stupid fools of Illinois that would put a muzzie in office.

I think I read that he's (Ellison) from Minnesota. I didn't mean the way he's sworn in either. I think the RINOs will attack Goode as a racist for saying we should not have immigration by Muslims from terrorist countries for our own safety and if we want to remain a western country.

The Constitution specifies there be no religious test for public office.

I was waiting for someone to point out this fact. Quoting article VI, paragraph 3:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

That pretty much settles the issue of whether Ellison should be barred from using the Koran. However, I look forward to continued debate on the left's eagerness to adhere to America's enemies.

He was elected because the MSM in that town(Minneapolis Star and sickle) refused to tell the people of his back ground. Namely, extreme antisemitism, support of cop killers and a generally extremist history. Had they known he would not of been elected even in this district.

Please tell me why the excuse that the message wasn't delivered about these facts & others. The conservatives have no monies or no say about what is printed? They have no other outlets to get a message out? I'm afraid that the answer is they don't care as much about their freedoms as the scum leftist care about their agenda. How many billions would an all conservative TV networks make if it went against CNN & Fox? So much that money is not the motivator. These elites don't want true conservatism to flourish. Bottom line.

"Unfortunately, I'm waiting, and won't be at all surprised to see Mr. Goode attacked by some of his PC Republican RINOs. In fact, I'll be shocked if some of them don't give him the "David Duke" treatment and want him gone from the party."

What I have seen in the MSM and even on other FR threads on the subject of Goode, has been a focus on Goode's "character", "motivations", etc. And absolutely no focus on what Goode is saying. The MSM has been running a "shoot the messenger" scheme, to avoid dealing with "the message". What we should be doing is examining whether or not what Goode is saying makes sense or doesn't as it applies to our way of life and Constitution, and not simply whether or not he should be villified, abandoned, or "elected president". If the guy is right, then he needs our support, because otherwise the powers that be are going eat him alive if they think that he stands alone.

Ask Fox -- they started out on the Right and have been moving progressively Left ever since. Hiring Oliver North as "a consultant" was the low point that got me to turn them off.

"Susan Estrich, a former Dukakis campaign manager..."

A good argument for the burka, Estrich.

"...60% of American voters would NEVER vote for a Muslim..."

And to think voting for a Catholic used to be controversial.

"Affirmation" is handled quite readily by atheists every day, and in some states its the preferred method. However if you've gotta' "swear" go to it, but whatever you do it doesn't apply to elected officials of the US government nor to appointed officers of the US government.

As far as I'm concerned, this member of the Nation of Islam can use his Koran for toilet paper, or whatever he wants.

What worries me most about Muslims in our Government is , they have no allegiance to any country and it's ok to lie cheat or steal to advance islam .

Islam is a system of theocratic rule. An empire across borders with a supremacist legal system.

I wouldn't be happy about a neonazi swearing in on a copy of Mein Kampf or a socialist swearing in on one of Marx's texts either.
