No Goode: Congressman's Hateful Comments Demand Response (Liberal attacks on Virgil Goode)
Fox News ^

Posted on 12/25/2006 7:21:42 AM PST by Princip. Conservative

Here we go. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, has yet to take office, and already the ugliness begins.

Mr. Ellison plans to bring his Koran with him on Jan. 4 when he takes the oath of office. The Koran is the Muslim holy book. If Christians and Jews can bring their Bibles, why shouldn’t Mr. Ellison be able to bring his Koran?

The answer given this week by Virginia Rep. Virgil Goode was simple enough: Because Mr. Goode doesn’t believe in the Koran, Mr. Ellison doesn’t have any right to either. I kid you not.

What could be less American? Or less Christian?

In a letter sent to constituents, Goode wrote: “When I raise my hand to take the oath on Swearing-In Day, I will have the Bible in my other hand. I do not subscribe to using the Koran in any way.”

It gets worse.

“The Muslim representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district, and if American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration, there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran.”

More Muslims elected to office? More Muslims seeing our government as representative and fair? Is this a bad thing?

Exactly! And there's been war and tumult in the region ever since. Disobedience and disbelief in God caused this whole mess. How important is it to obey God's commands? See what happens when you DON'T.

Had they known he would not of been elected even in this district.

Hate to break it to you but the 5th district has no limit when it comes to electing insane leftist kooks. It is comprised of Minneapolis and inner-ring western suburbs. You should check out the Minneapolis city council and Mayor's office. Everyone in Minneapolis government is a certifiable leftist militant. Fidel Castro would get 70% in this district. Pol Pot would get 80%.

I live in a very Lavender neighborhood on the west end of the district. The Lavender houses on my block were 100% identifiable by the Amy Klobuchar signs in the yard. When you combine that with the urban poverty pimping downtown, no rational candidate would ever have a chance. Ellison destroyed several hard core libs in the primary because those candidates don’t really hate their country so much.

Another way of looking at it is would a Muslim country allow a popularly elected official to be sworn in on a BIBLE???? I don't think so.

Of course not.

That's because OUR secular government, built upon the Rule of Law, is stronger than any feeble theocracy.

Goode should not apologize. The knives are coming out, and the MSM/Dims are going to force him to apologize. The Congressman should hold his ground.

The Constitution specifies there be no religious test for public office.

The clause was written for the purpose of allowing Quakers, who do not swear, to serve in government. Jews also take advantage of it, as do Unitarians, members of various dissenter groups, Orthodox Christians, atheists, Moslems, Buddhists, Hindus and so forth.

The history of the clause is imbedded in the concepts adopted in the Treaty of Westphalia.

This particular oath taking is a ceremonial photo op. he has already taken the oath without the aid of any religious icon earlier.

On the one hand, the use of a religious icon marks the solemnity and sacredness of his vow - so his oath should be an icon that has meaning to him, not the public. On the other hand, both the Bible and the Koran are also associated with a body of legal traditions. America and the West have based many of their legal tenets on the 10 Commandments and Biblical notions of right and wrong. This has been internatized into American criminal and civil law.

The Koran represents a different set of legal traditions. I would be queasy if the Congressman elect was reaffirming a dedication to Sharia Law through his oath, as I believe it conflicts with the Declaration of Independence's assertion of being endowed by the Creator with unalienable rights, as well as conflicts with the guarantees of the protection of those rights from government encroachment in the Bill of Rights.

Goode is just saying what everyone is thinking anyway. Even liberals secretly know Muslims would kill them instead of just bloviating like Christians do.

Mass immigration is a zero sum game - it's done at the expense of the natives. Estrich is filled with a (literally) genocidal loathing of white America, she welcomes anyone and anything that has a destructive effect on the American people. She's spent her entire career participating in and helping to sponsor racist mass murder and rape against innocent whites by lying about it or ignoring it. The part about not living up to Christmas standards is particularly galling considering the fact that this lying whore has never lived up to her own alleged standards on racial violence.

Keep repeating, Europe. England, France, Germany. Keep seeing Muslim strikes, burnings there. Keep thinking Muslims being elected to our Congress in greater numbers when wussy reps give them even more places in our wrecked immigration status. Keep thinking the undermining of our Western Judeo-Christian Constitutional heritage. I could care less about PC thinking about Islam . It is a cancer. Dems defend it because they think they can appease it internationally and get votes domestically. They are also a cancer!

Unfortunately, I'm waiting, and won't be at all surprised to see Mr. Goode attacked by some of his PC Republican RINOs. In fact, I'll be shocked if some of them don't give him the "David Duke" treatment and want him gone from the party.

I believe that Ellison has the "right" to be sworn in with any religious book that he chooses. After all, aren't we about the the freedom of religion?

My issue is with the stupid fools of Illinois that would put a muzzie in office.

Yes, but he is betting that the vast majority of people won't know that the Koran encourages lying to infidels.

I believe that representatives do not have to take an oath on ANY BOOK. I don't trust this Ellison and I hope the people of Minnesota wake up and kick him out.

I hope God opens the eyes of these Estrichy type people and soon.

Mostly I'd agree with that.
But for Estrich, I make an exception.
She was the person who took a guy who was a razor-sharp lawyer
and turned him into an unelectable buffoon.
(She was a major advisor to the Dukakis campaign).

The louder Estrich shouts, the even some sheeple start to understand
"She's a loony. Don't follow the advice these sorts of people dispense."
