I was always a fan of his music, but he also gave some of the best interviews. Proud American.

(snips) -- "He was a very positive person. There was no question he was the hardest working man in show business," Allman said. "I remember Mr. Brown as someone who always motivated me, got me reading the Bible."

If Brown's claim to the invention of soul can be challenged by fans of Ray Charles and Sam Cooke, then his rights to the genres of rap, disco and funk are beyond question. He was to rhythm and dance music what Dylan was to lyrics: the unchallenged popular innovator.
"James presented obviously the best grooves," rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy once told The Associated Press. "To this day, there has been no one near as funky. No one's coming even close."

Rest in Peace James Brown. The tightest groove in show business. Indeed, the Godfather of Soul.

Sorely missed here in Augusta, Georgia, his home of many years. He was one of our most famous natives (we put up a lifesize statue of him in the city's most central park last year) and he never forgot his roots. He'll be missed more here than anywhere else.
To: MrLee
Gee, I thought that seemed to be quick too. In hospital one day, dead the next. Hmmm I guess he didn't feel good.

The Jaycees sponsored a James Brown concert as a fund raiser and we decided to clean up the hall after the concert ourselves.
We found lots of weird stuff, including three pairs of panties.
