Muslims played a critical role in some key elections this year. But elected officials won't take them seriously if they don't continue to organize and turn out Muslim voters, two politically active Muslims said Saturday at a convention in Dearborn.
If there are efforts to register Muslims to vote, educate them about the candidates and get them to the polls to vote for one candidate, politicians will court their support, Jameel Johnson, an aide to U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., said at the Muslim American Society and Islamic Circle of North America convention.
"It is our job to make the Muslim vote visible to candidates," he said.
A strategy of organizing Muslim voters worked in Virginia this year in the U.S. Senate race.
The effort was so organized that Muslim taxi drivers in northern Virginia took the day off to ferry Muslims to the polls, said Imam Mahdy Bray, a speaker at the convention. Volunteers also made phone calls to Muslims in Virginia to urge them to vote, he said.
As a result, Democrat James Webb ousted incumbent Republican George Allen by about 9,000 votes in a race in which 50,000 Muslims went to the polls -- 47,000 of them voting for Webb, Bray said.
"You can make a difference when you work," Bray said.
Mohammed Shoman, 18, of Dearborn said the conference inspired him to get involved. "We realize how much our influence is" now, he said.

Really? Can you think of a better way to advance your agenda? This struggle is on many fronts, and this is just another of them.
They've got a long way to go before they surpass the illegal alien vote in this country.
Perfect problem for John Mearsheimer's and Stephen Walt's lobby to handle.
And when their numbers become sufficient, they will be pushing for Sharia law to replace the US, state and local laws they are subjected to.
Watch how they operate in Europe. They will do the same, eventually, here in the US.
All those that stayed home, instead of voting, should be very proud. Next you'll be saying, I'm going to wear a veil "just to prove a point."

Dearborn and vicinity mooslimes dependably vote for Johns Dingell and Conyers...............these are the same mooslimes who were featured so widely on national TV for their celebrations in the street expressing such great love for America when saddam was taken out of power.....here is their local tabloid rag......CAIR is not offended by it:

Looks like James Webb is beholden to the Muslim community.
I don't think we're going to have another 9/11 here because the Muzzies have discovered that, with the support and probably funding of the Dem party, they can get elected in virtually any Dem majority or black majority area.
They're a tiny percentage of the population but they have huge funding from the Saudis and the strategy of building mosques all over the US, even where there are no Muslims, is paying off because it makes it look to your average idiot MSM viewing American as if there are lots and lots of them and they are actually the majority.

Well, America, you wanted 'tolerance' (the forced acceptance of every sin and evil there is, under the pretense of "rights"), and you wanted to 'celebrate diversity' (the worshipping of disunity and chaos). But in your celebration of humanism, you have eliminated Christ the King from the underpinnings your government and have supplanted your country's roots and traditions with a great lie. The misuse of your God-given freedoms is fast becoming your own destruction. You apostacized from God and bestowed the same rights upon Satan that you originally believed were bestowed upon you by the Creator. Did you really think that Satan and his legion wouldn't learn how to vote, and destroy you from within?
The is George Bush's reward for being nicey nice to Muslim sensibilities. Ordinarily, Muslims might be expected to vote Republican, since Democrats represent the culture of homosexuality, abortion, sleaze, pornography, and filth. But it's evident that these American Muslims are very happy to make a marriage of convenience with the left, since killing infidels is more important to them in the long run.
Similarly, Democrats are more than happy to ally themselves with the Muslims, even though they beat their wives and behave in all sorts of politically incorrect ways. Because for Democrats, too, bringing down Western Civilization is more important than anything else.
Only they will do it faster because their PR plan is organized--in Detroit and elsewhere.

And aren't we spending about half a trillion dollars to nation build democratic institutions in the Islamic Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan?
