SARASOTA, Fla. -- Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is considering not sitting the certified Republican winner of a contested congressional election when Congress reconvenes next month, her spokesman said.
Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said the congresswoman has not yet decided what to do about the contested District 13 race where Republican Vern Buchanan was certified the winner by the state by a margin of 369 votes over Democrat Christine Jennings.
"The bottom line here is that nothing's off the table," Hammill said.

Just wait what happens when she tries to get us goose stepping and sieg-heiling.
They did do it in 1984. And they will try it again since Republicans did nothing to stop them the last time.
The man belongs in prison.
Yes, she can refuse to seat this candidate named Buchanan. Hastert could have done the same in a similar situation had be been willing to take the slings and arrows of the liberal media.
My advice is buy guns and ammunition now. While you still can.
Congressman Billybob
The Dems could really abuse a rule like that
Good Grief
The popular Thomas "Tip" O'Neill refused to seat a duly elected Republican from IN in 1985.
It was Richard M. Nixon who launched the career of Leon Panetta.
In IN in 1985, when the seat was stolen, IN voters in that district went Democrat for many years thereafter. The Republican who was defrauded was punished by voters thereafter. You can't count on voters to remedy this.
You need to give them time to work up to 'Communist Cuba anytime since the sixties'
"I am so sick of the media giving this bitch Christine Jennings a pass. If the repub had lost, they would be screaming for him to concede."
You might find this heartening:
Butt out, Dean; Buchanan won

Remember back to 1994 and the election between Loretta Sanchez and Bob Dornan or the Senate election in Lousiana between Mary Landrieu and Woody Jenkins. Both were riddled with fraud but both were admitted without virtually any dispute by the GOP majority. Nancy Pelosi, of course, doesn't have any kind of manners, courtesy or reciprocity of kindness or consideration. She would boot her own children out of Congress if they were in the GOP and she could get away with it.
I hope all the people who wanted the GOP to learn a lesson are really happen now.
She isn't even the speaker yet. 2008 is going to be a laugher. Marion Barry made better decisions.
"and a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business"
So maybe the repubs will have a pair and not do the above hmmmmmmmmm
I may well be ignorant of the rules here but just who the heck is Pelosi or anyone for that matter not seating an officially ELECTED congressman?
If she rules against seating the elected Representative from the 13th District in Florida, I'm pretty sure Republicans can challenge the ruling. With that, there will be a vote to overrule Pelosi. Democrats will be forced to go on record voting either to disenfranchise Floridians, or vote against Pelosi. That should be pretty good.
Actually, it was the CA RINO liberal Senator Tom Kuchel that launched Panetta's career before he went to work for HEW under fellow Californian Bob Finch after Kuchel's defeat, and then he went to work for the horrid ultra-RINO Mayor John Lindsay. He beat the last excellent GOP Congressman from Monterey County, Burt Talcott, in 1976.
