Excerpt -
WASHINGTON, Dec 22 (Reuters) - A U.S. federal judge on Friday ordered the Islamic Republic of Iran to pay $254 million to the family of 17 U.S. servicemen killed in the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers residence at a U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia. The default judgment was entered against the Iranian government, its security ministry and the Revolutionary Guards after they failed to respond to the lawsuit, which was initiated more than four years ago.
In issuing the $254.4 million judgment in the case, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth concluded that the Khobar Towers attack was carried out by people recruited by Gen. Ahmed Sharifi of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

So it begins.... Another excellent reason why we should launch the massive air campaign against the islamic terrorist regime in Tehran.

Let us wait until the war starts, and then I will send you a nice box of cigars and a case of beer :). Iran must be broken, we have no other alternative, no other solution.

One of my wife's best friends is the mother of one of the servicemen killed.

I lived in building 101 in 1991, and had friends injured in the 1996 attack. It's about time Iran was fingered for this terrorist operation.

And I will send you a keg, cigars, and a dancing pole for the lady. :-)
I concur with breaking Iran. Talkin' is futile.

And I'm sure Umma Nutjob is going to step right up to the plate and pay this.
The timing of this ruling is...somewhat..interesting, though.

I got to stay at the Khobar Hilton in Aug-Sept 1996. It was a little...tense.

If they don't pay up by the end of the week....take it out of their hide.....tarting with their nuke facilities and not ignoring all their military installations around the St. of Hormuz.

Were you from Seymour Johnson AFB by any chance?
To: operation clinton cleanup
No, I was from Davis-Monthan AFB, sent there as grunt labor to help move the mess from Khobar down to PSAB.
Thought that 3-month tour was pretty tough at that time. Hah.
Now we have guys on their fourth 1-year combat tour in Iraq.
/crawling under my little rock in embarrassment.

I did two 3 month tours there, each one seemed like a year. I cant imagine how someone could do a real 1 year tour in Iraq!

Aren't there still Iranian assets in the US frozen in 1979 and collecting interest ever since? Could those be attached to pay this judgment?
