I really hate to say this but, after reading the comments on this post, I think that the Freepers are getting as bad as the Democrats. Monica was a victim of a pervert, and why Clinton is a sexual predator. So why did she, and still does deserve ridicule? When the real criminal is still respected
At some point the press and others should just ignore the poor girl and let her live her life. She did nothing to have a life of such distains. If anyone should be ridiculed constantly it’s the adulterous whore hopper Bill Clinton.

Most Americans had to be appalled when the truth came out about the president of the U.S. and the 21-year-old "girl". Nothing positive can be said about it...it was disgraceful, and, IMO, he deserved to be impeached for obstruction of justice and perjury.

Monica Lewinsky rarely comes to my mind anymore. Obviously she doesn't seek the spotlight, the cameras.

Too bad Bill and Hil can't give up their hunger for power and attention.

I want to thank you both for reminding me of some facts.

A long-time friend of mine has said on more than one occasion that mistakes we make when we're young should not be held against us for the rest of our lives. Most of us do "grow up" and become responsible adults. I wish Monica the same.

If Monica had a sexual affair with an unknown person, whether 21 or 50, no one else would be aware or care. It's goes on all the time.

In light of this particular thread, wouldn't it be interesting if all of us with opinions on Monica would be willing to say: "I never had any kind of sexual relations until after I got married", or, "I've never married and I've never indulged in any sexual contact"?

You've peaked my interest in doing some research on that. One of my many uncles was born 10 years before me. He was highly intelligent and we had many conversations. His thoughts, beliefs, frequently are repeated in family talks.

I will always remember his opinion that people do not become truly civilized until they reach the age of 30. (I understand what he meant, as I am well beyond that age.)

I'll go a step further and say that some of us take a lot longer, if ever, to qualify as sensible adults.

You are, of course, correct, but even the most "Christian" among us enjoy a laugh at someone else's expense - especially in anything related to sex. It is part of Luther's observation that "we daily sin much and deserve nothing but punishment."

In my own defense, I would argue that if you don't learn from history, worse things will happen.

You have a point. Regardless of the effect on his life any aging Lothario should consider the consequences of his behavior on his paramour. Clinton's recklessness in this small matter effected not only his own life, but the fundamental institutions of the American government and effectively destroyed Ms. Lewinsky's life. More reason to despise the feckless Clinton.

I completely agree with you, however my view is a bit darker than I let on... I am certain that Monica desired the affair, and that most women make the same decision at some point in their lives (on and off, or perhaps regularly depending on the woman).

That's what I mean in saying she got caught, whereas most girls get away with it.

Notwithstanding, her misdeed is ancient in nature, common in practice, and it happened many years ago.

(Naturally I loath Bill for many reasons, including his affairs.)

Here's a projector for all of those who like to project their cheap sentiments onto celebrities (those known for being known) about whose private lifes and feelings they know next to nothing!

In fact, if a degree in something called "social psychology" means squat, Ms Lewinsky, might get some insights into this mob behaviour by just reading this thread and all those expressions of love for a poor innocent, suffering little thing the posters imagine this spoiled rich party girl to be. 10 years of partying in Noo Yoke without visible means of support. Not bad. Study in London. Not bad either. The monthly salary from an FOB SOB must have run out when she turned 30, huh?
