Eight Marines have been charged in the incidents in Haditha in late 2004.
- Lt Col Jeffrey R Chessani: Violation of a lawful order; dereliction
- Sgt Sanick P Dela Cruz: Unpremeditated murder; false official statement
- 1st Lt Andrew A Grayson: Dereliction; false official statement; obstructing justice
- Capt Lucas M McConnell: Dereliction
- Lance Cpl Justin L Sharratt: Unpremeditated murder
- Capt Randy W Stone: Violation of a lawful order; dereliction
- Lance Cpl Stephen B Tatum: Unpremeditated murder; negligent homicide; assault
- Staff Sgt Frank D Wuterich: Unpremeditated murder; soliciting another to commit an offence; false official statement
Two investigations into what happened at Haditha were launched in response to a video prepared by Iraqis (with ties to terrorists, no less!) and accusations of a "massacre". One was to look into the incident itself, and the other was to look into the accusations of a cover-up by the chain of command. Several officers were relieved of command when this incident first came to light, and before any investigation - the company and battalion commanders.
Knowing what we now know about the blatant and unethical railroading of the Pendleton 8, it won't surprise you to know that the charges against the Haditha Marines are based upon erroneous and falsified testimony.
Let me put it softly...
The Iraqis are liars - always have been - and they are flat-out lying about this. No doubt about it.
The media won't connect the dots on this mess, but the bloggers will. Here's a post that rips the legs off the prosecution's piss-poor case: Unraveling Haditha. Let's hope the legal defense teams see that article. Read it for yourself and get pissed off!
Thanks for the post. I shall ping some folks on this one.
needs to happen some more for this thing to get over the hump. Be nice as hell to people and give them all the support in the world. But when your guys blows up in their neighborhood the locals should pay hell for letting bad guys use their block for terrorism. They would post snipers and kill these aholes as they planted IEDS for us if they thought the alternative was Haditha.
That to me is the most damaging testimony of all, not what is said by the Iraqis.
But I get it, rule of law, not rule of revenge, civics and trust. Yeah we have to be stalwart in our application of due process and justice in order to receive converts from the old ways of family justice.
How are they going to minimize the confession of the Navy Corpsman, Macon Bacos?
That to me is the most damaging testimony of all, not what is said by the Iraqis.

You have your Hamdania mixed up with your Haditha.
The Navy Corpsman was one of the Pendleton 8, this is a completely separate affair.

Please ping others so that they can decide if they may want to book mark this one.
That being the case let me correct myself and state that I believe NOTHING that the Iraqis might say.
I'm glad there is no credible evidence against these Marines.
110th congress doesnt support the mission and now we are indicting US Marines, I forget tell me why we are there?
Ping-
