In my recent article US or Israel will attack Iran by March I accumulated a number of signs in support of my conclusion.
Here's another even more conclusive sign.

Debka has predicted 109 out of the last 12 events in the Middle East.
The only logical, militarily common sense for allowing our troops to suffer as policemen in Iraq would be if there were being kept there for future action the region. This is Bush's last chance, the winter of 2008 will be too close to the elections to do it.
If an attack in Iraq is found to be the result of Iranian fighters or supplies, immediately and covertly sink an Iranian sub or major navel vassal. Deny we did it. Repeat this for each new incident. This will be good practice for our attack subs. It will diminish Iranian navel assets. Let's see how long it takes the Iranians to figure this out. I bet the Iranians will stop attacks. Do a similar thing with Syria.
Bush did say we would be carrying out covert operations. I just don't believe we have. If we had, the Muslims would be better behaved.

Some info I heard was that the ships will be used as a part of a blockade if sanctions are passed in the UN and the US fully expects Iran to counter with either a strike on the ships or block the Straight of Hormuz in either case will be considered an act of war and will give us the right to pulverize them.

Seriously, this would not be a escalation in the number of countries we are fighting.
It would merely a recognition of the fact that Iran is a major supporter of the insurrection in Iraq. We've been fighting them without acknowledging it, [and making the mistake of allowing "safe haven" to Iranian sponsored fighters and weapons suppliers] for far too long.
One war, multiple fronts.
