HARTFORD, Conn. -- Police shot a man's dog in front of his daughter on Wednesday night.
Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Jamie Roth reported Hartford police officers shot a St. Bernard by the front door of Glen Harris' home. ...
Harris claimed it all began when officers unexpectedly showed up in the yard. ...
"They didn't knock. They ignored the sign, the dog sees or hears (and) protects my daughter, so he ran toward him -- not growling, not foaming at the mouth, not anything," Harris said.
Police told Eyewitness News the officers were investigating a complaint about guns when the dog charged them. Two officers said they ran to the street and that the dog lunged at the second officers, who fired three shots.
Harris said his daughter saw the whole thing.
"While she's running toward the dog, they kill him. She's yelling, 'Why'd you shoot him? I was going to get him. Why'd you shoot him?'" Harris said.
Police continue to investigate the incident. The police report in the incident does not list any guns found at the Harris home and no one was arrested.
That because you are at the P range and they have to obey the RO.
Most of them have pepper spray and stun guns that can be used from a distance, I don't see what else would be more effective than that and still be non-lethal. They have bean-bag rounds, but those are fired from a shotgun. If you gave them a pellet gun or something that fired .22 shorts they might run the risk of accidentally drawing that instead of their "real" gun when facing down some psychotic meth-head who's trying to kill them.
There is nothing more terrifying than someone shouting, "We are about to be killed by giant rabbits!" Apparently they smeared Vaseline on the mouths of the rabbits to make them more disturbing in the close-ups. Still, they looked like giant, well-fed, cuddly rabbits.
"Yeah, a lot of this stuff doesn't add up. Have you heard anything new about the shootout between the cops and the 88 year old woman? Last I heard about that one it sounded like they planted evidence and tried to intimidate an informant."
This is the last I heard, it is a transcript of a 911 call:
ATLANTA, GA -- 11Alive News has obtained the tape of a 911 call that seems to lend credibility to an informants claims he was asked to lie about the shooting death of an elderly woman in northwest Atlanta.
A day after narcotics officers served a search warrant at the home of Kathryn Johnston, and she was shot and killed, a man named Alexis White called 911 with some disturbing claims.
911: How can I help you
White: Yes, I have two undercover officers chasing me. One of their names is Detective--
911: Okay, sir, are they chasing you now?
White: Yes. I just jumped out of the car with them.
The news the caller is talking about is the shooting death of Kathryn Johnston. A day earlier, on November 21, narcotics officers served a no-knock search warrant at the home, and she ended up dead.
White: I dont know whos on whos side, man.
Police have admitted that White is an often-used federal confidential informant. In this case, he says a day after the shooting, some of the narcotics officers picked him up and pressured him to lie and say he bought drugs at the home.
911: You say undercover cops have picked you up?
White: Yeah, yeah, yeah. They come and picked me up and asked me about that killing yesterday, where theyre trying to play it off.
The police and FBI say that since the tape is a part of their investigation, they wouldnt comment. However, the FBI says they are aware of the existence of the 911 tape.
She was more than just hollering after the dog, according to the father:
While she's running toward the dog, they kill him.
You don't have to do anything. I just have a compulsion to answer mostly all the responses I get. And since yours seemed to back up what I was trying to get across....
Take care. And give Cosmo a hug for me. :-)
" If you ever go to the range with them they only talk to themselves,..."
Is that to other cops or, is it talking to themselves as in having a conversation with themselves?
"...disobey range safety,..."
They ALL disobey range safety? Did you report it?
"...and treat everyone like a suspect."
Uh, yeah. They have to otherwise your guard would be down, and that can lead to a short career.
A friend of mine told me there is a site out there with ER workers talking about mauling victims. He'll try to remember where he saw it and then I can pass it on.
Remember, I never said that the police are always right. I just said that they weren't always wrong.
BTW, it seems that you really hate your fellow officers. I respectfully suggest a change of profession.
The cops obviously mistook it for a Pit Bernard - the ferocious second cousin of the Saint.
I don't know this dog called Cosmo, but if I ever happen to meet him I will give him a big hug for you.
Merry Christmas, and please bump my little noticed thread about an old Christmas story posted here.
Hush. Or we'll be regailed with obscure tales about Wolf, Grip, and Fang.
There is no situation so bad that it cannot be made worse by the presence of a policeman.....
Stuff it. You don't know squat about my wife's qualifications.
Yet you are so quick to vilify the officers.
There's a lot of great officers working every day. There are also a lot of jackasses. The press is drawn to covering the jackasses.
If you have an emergency that warrants a call to the police, you had BETTER DEAL WITH IT YOURSELF because the police will show up three hours late, if they show up it all.
She came at me with her head low, her body low to the ground, and closed the 60-70ft. with acceleration that indicated to me that I was about to be attacked.
Thankfully, the yard next-door didn't have a dog and I use their gate to get back to my truck.
Throwing your hands up and yelling (trying to look larger) has been suggested for mountain lion encounters, but in the heat of the moment, getting the hell out of there seems a real good idea. Vaulting over a six foot, dogeared fence seemed easy by comparison.
If I may intervene, I think Strict Constructionist is an ATTORNEY, not a cop/ I think a cop might have come up with some other "handle"/
