Blanco: Lowest Ranked Dem. Gov. in United States

The survey, conducted by the polling service surveyusa.com, show Blanco with one of the lowest ratings among all of the Governors throughout the United States. The data further shows that the Governor has some significant hurdles to overcome with various constituencies to win re-election.

The survey of 600 likely voters asked the question, "Do you approve or disapprove of the job Kathleen Blanco is doing as Governor?"

Surprisingly, the results showed little of a gender gap. Usually, female governors enjoy a degree of sympathy by gender. In this case, only 39% of men approved of Blanco, and 40% of women liked her. Disapproval was 60% and 57% respectively--even within the four percent margin of error.

The same was true of age. Among 18-34 year olds, her approval was 36%, versus 38% with 35-50 year olds. Only the elderly gave her better approval, with 42% of their number thinking she was doing a good job.

Among whites, the Governor's numbers hovered at 32%. Only 34% of Hispanics liked her. Only a majority of African-Americans favored her work as Governor, at 56%, though amongst other Democratic Governors nationally, Black support is usually in the sixty plus percentile.

A bare majority of Democrats, 53% support Blanco, with only 22% of Republicans, and 39% of the crucial independent swing vote backing her. Ideologically, she loses Conservatives 3 to 1, and only get 44% of Liberals. She lost a bare majority of moderates, 48 to 51 percent.

Only 32% of gun owners approve of the Governor, and more frightening for a Democrat, only 33% of Labor Union members think Blanco does a good job.

Support in her base of Southeast Louisiana versus the rest of the State is all but identical, 39% vs. 40% approval.

I consider her the lowest ranked living thing in the United States. Anyone who tries to blame a hurricane on the President of the United States is nothing but a lowlife maggot. I guess the real problem is, the morons living in this country allowed her to get away with it.

Thank the rural Louisianans who voted for her instead of Jindal. If only Jindal ran the state. But it'll never happen because NOLA is full of idiots and they'll relect Blank-o again.

"Imagine that."

Bet she gets re-elected. You can always tell someone from Louisiana -- you just can tell them much.

Naah, it won't happen this time. The 'Rat party is collapsing in LA now that NO has only half the people it did 2 years ago. There's no way Blanco can get the same amount of votes she did in '03, she may not even be the lead 'Rat for Governor in the primary - that might be Lt Gov. Mitch Landrieu.

I'm with you. I've heard Jindal speak many times. He would be an excellent governor. Unfortunately, the nanny staters outnumber the indepedent American types in that state. That's too bad. Of course, I've got no room to talk. Arizona is getting to be the same way. This state is being overrun with "It Takes a Village To Raise My Kids" nanny state types.

Go Jindal, I think he is going to win easily the next Governor election.

She's gonna be sunk this time. Nagin's busses that he used last time to wheel voters to the polls, sunk during Katrina.

Nagin endorsed Jindal last time, before he lost his mind.

That endorsement actually puts Blanco in a quandary, if she tries to use that to tie Jindal to Nagin to up her share of the rural White vote (which helped her prevail last time), she risks alienating Black voters in NOLA, but if Nagin gives her the endorsement, the rural vote will be put off and go to Jindal. Any way you slice it, Jindal wins.

Blanco tried to pin most of the blame on Nagin even though they were equally at fault. Nagin won't forgive her for throwing him under the bus (heh).

Democrats will look for another candidate. Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell announced he was running. Democrats her to drop out completely.
