Dec 21, 2006 PRISTINA, Serbia (Reuters) - Two officials of Kosovo's governing coalition have been arrested after police found a minibus packed with heavy weapons and ammunition.
A police source said the haul included a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun and more than 100 rocket-propelled grenades.
Local media reports said the find, made late on Wednesday in the Drenica region of central Kosovo, was the largest in Kosovo since the 1998-99 war and the deployment of NATO peacekeepers.
Three men were arrested, including a senior adviser to the Kosovo labor minister and a member of the governing Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), which emerged from the guerrilla Kosovo Liberation Army.
The find sharpened fears of unrest in the U.N.-run province, where major powers have delayed a decision on the demand of 2 million ethnic Albanians for independence from Serbia.
The Kosovo government issued a statement expressing regret for what it said was an isolated case. The AAK, a junior member of the governing coalition, said it was "surprised" that two of its members were involved.
The breakaway province, run by the United Nations since 1999 and patrolled by 17,000 NATO-led peacekeepers, is braced for possible violence after the major Western powers and Russia let slip a year-end deadline to decide its fate until Serbia holds a general election on January 21.
An influential Brussels-based think-tank on Wednesday warned against further delay.
The International Crisis Group (ICG) said the temptation to avoid a tough decision on independence must be avoided, or there could be a "major new crisis."
Some Kosovo Albanian leaders have warned of unrest, which would almost certainly target the remaining 100,000 Serbs. Groups of armed men have appeared over the past year, and rioters last month lobbed stones and bottles at the U.N. headquarters in the capital, Pristina.
NATO bombed Serbia for 78 days in 1999 to force out Serb forces accused of causing a bloodbath in a two-year conflict with separatist guerrillas. Ten thousand Albanian civilians died and almost a million were expelled.
Diplomats say the United States and its major European allies favor a form of independence supervised by the European Union. But Russian support for Serbia, which opposes independence, is hardening and could scupper efforts to solve the problem in the U.N. Security Council.

Can someone explain this to me? Are they saying "Ten thousand Albanian civilians died and almost a million were expelled." was due to the NATO bombing? Or the 2 year conflict?
If it was the conflict, how many did die in the NATO bombing?
Thanks!
NATO bombs did killing hundreds of Albanian civilians - they bombed a long convoy and killed over 80, and they bombed 2 refugee encampments killing scores. They bombed a bus in Kosovo and their bombs killed smaller numbers of people all over throughout the war.
Also, a KLA commander recently testified how when NATO started bombing the KLA ordered the Albanians of the villages it was in to leave just before it (the KLA) itself left.
During the NATO airwar and before, the KLA was kidnapping and killing Serbs, Roma and Albanians who didn't support their cause. They also killed each other in rivalries.
first of all it was 100,000, oppps we made a mistake, no it was 10,000 oppppps where or where did the bodies go. They find 2,108 bodies and afterwards rumors, sites, etc....bodies here and some there....no one can tell whose body it was and whether it was serb or Albanian. The UN gave the wrong body part (equalled a person), to the wrong family, which ones, and there were many killed by NATO's ill conceived bombing plan. The proproganda has been stepped up it appears due to the independence issue......playing dirty pool
I see that you already answered the question and with more detail.....you are spot on.
NATO bombed Serbia for 78 days in 1999 to force out Serb forces accused of causing a bloodbath in a two-year conflict with separatist guerrillas. Ten thousand Albanian civilians died and almost a million were expelled.

Now situation is the same as in 1998. Albanians are preparing for war knowing that USA will be paralised by Democrates in Senate and with Albanian brothers-in-religion are "victimes of brutal american agression in Iraq".
Just instead of Serbian security forces targets will be US and NATO personell.
"The Kosovo government issued a statement expressing regret for what it said was an isolated case. The AAK, a junior member of the governing coalition, said it was "surprised" that two of its members were involved. "
lolol..you got to be kidding me!! they never quit, it's amazing. Isolated case, sure if you start since 1999, and name hundreds of these "isolated" cases..they are all isolated cases...:)))) Oh, and AAK is involved? Imagine that, Ramush's own party......what a surprise.
The Albanians will continue their genocide
Neither the article or posts to this point have mentioned the somewhat important fact that the "Kosovo Albanians" are MUSLIMS and the Serbs they are conducting murderous actions against are CHRISTIANS..
President Clinton's rush to aid the Muslims against the Christians in Europe was a stroke of insanity based on damnable lies to the public.

So, the answer is to break every possible international law and convention regarding state sovereignty and inviolability of existing, internationally recognized borders! A "major new crisis" would be much easier to deal with: allow the Serbian Army back into Kosovo-Metohia.
Wraith, this was of course, an isolated case involving ..........lololol.:)) AAK, imagine that, what a surprise, Ramush's own.... just another isolated case since 1999...
Let's not count "the brooklyn connection..." naw....
Semper Fi,
