Central Command Chief Gen. John P. Abizaid, who became the top U.S. general in the region in July of 2003, will turn over his command in March. He took the post four months after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and has served longer in this position than any other previous commander.

I wouldn't be surprised. The job stress is rather extreme.

Read it "Military Forces" as an adjective and a noun. Relax.

The headline states the military is FORCING him to retire....? This is not supported in the story whatsoever!

I think they mean he is head of Military Forces, not that he is forced to resign - is that what you are referring to?
To: Army MP Retired
If you google the General for recent news......it's being widely reported. March he is retiring

It's the typical Fox News playing games with words. They could have left off the word "Forces" and it would have given a clear meaning. The MSM has been trying to connect the surge of troop idea with the General's retirement but the retirement plan was in early '06 from what I'm hearing and has nothing to do with the surge idea.

I know what the Slimes and rest of the idiot MSM is saying but while he maybe against the idea there has not been a decision made so his retirement can't be based on the idea that hasn't been accepted. I believe the President will surge the troops and I believe the mission will be clear.

Statutorily, it's the US Armed Forces, not the Military Forces, so I see where you're coming from. But I did manage to read it correctly the first time, so....

The military is not forcing the General to retire, it is a very poorly written headline. {Maybe they wanted to confuse people, and they did}.
